Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience including a minimum of 4 years of product management or relevant experience
Additional Qualifications and Skills:
MBA or equivalent relevant experience in educational product development, educational publishing and/or business preferred
Strong knowledge of best practices in marketing, branding, and data analysis
Ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders ranging from faculty to marketing agencies to software engineers in an effort to ensure development is aligned with goals
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, as well as demonstrated presentation and negotiation abilities
Experience conducting research, gathering information from many sources, filtering what is most important, and synthesizing findings into actionable recommendations
Ability to think proactively, suggest solutions, and manage multiple deadline-driven projects simultaneously
Current understanding of business trends, issues, and innovations as they relate to online education
Experience or interest in international markets
Ability to travel up to 10% internationally or domestically
Extremely high-quality standards
Proven ability to work with shifting priorities and under tight deadlines

Department:VPAL/HarvardXPre-Employment Screening:Education, IdentitySchedule:Full time - Mon - Fri 35hrs./wk.Job Function:General Administration Job-Specific Responsibilities:The Product Manager partners with faculty and collaborates across internal teams, including marketing, program services, technology, business operations, and instructional development to oversee product success. The Product Manager will:
Launch 2-5 new courses annually – each requires performing an initial market assessment, assembling the go-to-market strategy, including market sizing, product positioning, key benefits, pricing, and target customers for product lines.
Work closely with the Director to align product definition with market research.
Manage the execution of the go-to-market plan for new courses working cross-functionally and collaboratively with internal teams to ensure all are coordinated and sequenced for successful product launch and continued iterations.
Track the progress of key milestones and work with cross-functional teams to readjust plans as necessary.
Partner with the VPAL Marketing team to optimize paid advertising efforts, primarily ensuring we are targeting/reaching the right segments across courses and that our message is relevant to each of them. Also, help identify specific channels/direct buys to reach targeted leads across courses.
Provide general oversight of the maintenance of the assigned course portfolio through the potential future management of 1-2 Assistant Product Managers. Work collaboratively across teams to continue to update course content and technology.
Assist with cross product efforts as needed (i.e. course webinars, certificate standardization, etc).
Contribute to the customer insight and data collection strategy to identify value proposition and key market drivers for success and marry research insights with faculty expertise and engagement.
Serve as the portfolio expert and evangelist for internal and external constituents on products in the designated portfolio. Report to VPAL internal stakeholders and faculty on the health and well-being of products and make recommendations for product growth strategy.
Work collaboratively with VPAL leadership to identify a pipeline of new courses, and/or new product offerings that can be made from existing courses all based on a specific audience and market needs.
