POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Comparative Media Studies/Writing, to work in the area of diversity and inclusion in esports and gaming. Will work closely with Professor T.L. Taylor (and her external collaborator Morgan Romine) on various projects of both a research and programmatic nature. To get a sense of their work in this domain, visit http://www.AnyKey.org. The particular focus will be a new initiative to develop an “Inclusion 101” training curriculum for college esports organizations, as well as fieldwork on diversity in collegiate gaming clubs and esports tournaments. Output will range from concrete guidelines and whitepapers to academic publications. Will also perform other duties as requested.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: a Ph.D. (by the time of appointment) in sociology, anthropology, communication, or media studies; a strong background in empirical research (qualitative or quantitative); familiarity with issues related to diversity and inclusion in gaming; and discretion and judgment with confidential information and/or issues. The ability and willingness to do public speaking, facilitate workshops, and drive original work will be key. The communication and design skills necessary to help facilitate the public distribution of findings, recommendations, etc., would be helpful. Experience with grant writing would also be valuable.
