Global Portfolio Analytics

Global Portfolio Analytics’ overarching objective is to ensure a robust valuation and prioritization of the R&D portfolio. The team engages with key stakeholders in the R&D organization and the Global Business Units to provide support to leadership decision-making. The team’s remit is to:

  1. Ensure R&D asset valuation is done in a rigorous and comparable basis across Sanofi, including the development of standard tools and an effective review process

  2. Provide challenge to project teams’ assumptions via

  • Quantitative analysis of previous Sanofi performance and external benchmarks

  • Coordinating internal review/debate workshops from both R&D and commercial perspectives

  • Reviewing findings with internal senior leadership with external

  1. Use analytics and structured decision making to inform decisions made by Global Project Teams and senior leadership (e.g., using decision analysis tools to define optimal R&D development strategies))

  2. Consolidate analyses into a holistic portfolio view and generate key portfolio insights (e.g., volume, continuity, opportunities for prioritization)

  3. Facilitate and orchestrate prioritization and trade-off discussion among senior leaders


The Portfolio Analytics team is looking to add a team-oriented member to help execute on their mandate. As a Manager within this group, you will gain exposure to all of Sanofi’s therapy areas and come to truly understand the ‘nuts and bolts’ of the business. You will develop a deep understanding of core products and a detailed view of their development strategies and commercial impact.

You will interact directly with key stakeholders on project teams and senior management. Your ability to conduct complex analyses, present findings, and help facilitate decision-making will be critical for success. Responsibilities include:

Work with Global Project Teams to understand key R&D and commercial assumptions

  • Attend meetings with Global Project Teams to review and understand assumptions including target product profiles, probabilities of success and commercial potential

  • Develop a working knowledge of the therapeutic area and compare project assumptions to internal and industry benchmarks

Build, maintain and use portfolio and decision analysis tools

  • Support development of analytical frameworks and tools for project, program and portfolio-level decision-making

  • In collaboration with Global Project Teams, complete project-level commercial and financial models and ensure models contain the latest project assumptions

  • Structure and perform scenarios and simulations to model and value strategic alternatives and trade-offs

Synthesize results to support project-level and portfolio-level decision making

  • Generate key project insights to facilitate decision-making and strategy selection

  • Synthesize project assumptions and outputs into a clearly articulated value story

Participate in project and portfolio reviews

  • Develop supporting materials for meetings and contribute to leadership discussions

  • Help facilitate discussion of project-level strategic options and decision-making

Basic Qualifications

We are seeking a professional with the following background:

  • Excellent academics with 3+ years of directly relevant business experience in the life sciences industry (e.g., strategy consulting, investment banking)

  • Clearly demonstrated interest in, and knowledge of, the life sciences industry

  • Good business judgment, strong analytical skills with a mastery of Excel, and a grasp of corporate finance principles

  • The ability to synthesize information and present key findings in a crisp and concise manner

  • Aptitude to learn and think quickly with the ability to apply learning across multiple situations

  • The maturity and leadership skills to be able to interact at senior levels

Preferred Qualifications

  • An Advanced degree (PhD in Life Sciences, MD or MBA)
