Partner Technical Manager – Managed Service Providers

The Partner Technical Manager is a key leadership role within Microsoft’s US One Commercial Partner Organization. OCP is focused on enabling partner transformation and creating new digital experiences for customers. The PTM for Managed Service Providers directs a national team of Technical Strategists commissioned to drive datacenter modernization and the development of new cloud practices and solution offerings with strategic channel partners. The team provides the technical guidance and architectural support that partners need to develop solutions that span Cloud Applications & Infrastructure, Data and AI, Business Applications and the Modern Workplace, in order to create a successful and profitable cloud business. The role and team evidences Microsoft’s deep commitment to the partner ecosystem to build a mutually beneficial business relationship by working closely with a partner’s senior technical leadership as their virtual Microsoft CTO. The Partner Technical Manager must develop and manage a high-performance team that delivers incremental partner capacity and capability through recruitment, enablement and business growth from a technical perspective. Impact and execution outcomes deliver long-term revenue, cloud consumption, new customer acquisition and digital transformation through a set of solutions leading to workload and/or industry-based co-sell engagements with the Microsoft field sales force. The position plays a pivotal role in the selection and optimization of the US MSP partner portfolio as well as broad, programmatic enablement strategies executed across the entire services partner ecosystem. Exceptional talent recruitment, development and retention is imperative attract and maintain a diverse, inclusive world-class team. This role requires a visionary leader who sets aspirational goals and drives the team towards success while ensuring proactive collaboration between roles and across OCP functional teams to win business and remove blockers. The PTM is a key partner to respective Partner Development Manager peers in planning and orchestrating engagement models and successful outcomes. The ability to manage One Microsoft orchestration across teams (including inside sales, field sales, go-to market and local channel management) to secure partner commitment to MS platform and services is essential. Alignment across technical resources is paramount to ensure efficient and effective utilization of pooled architect as well as engineering resources. Subsidiary and area leadership influence skills are necessary to lever required investments a required to achieve revenue and scorecard targets.   

Responsibilities

Qualifications / Experiences Required: Education, Key Experiences, Skills and Knowledge

  • Deep understanding of digital transformation business drivers, cloud platforms, emerging computing trends and their impact on customer opportunities. 

  • Knowledge of hosted cloud platforms, datacenter migration strategy and managed service business models and annuity/subscription profit models

  • 10+ years of experience in partner technical management, technology solutions, practice development, partner channel development, people management in the technology industry   

  • Proven track record of building deep relationships with partner leadership and building cloud consumption share in large or strategic accounts.

  • Extensive experience managing people and virtual teams across functions and geographies: inclusion and collaboration competencies that drive teamwork, diversity and cross-team alignment.

  • Strong partner relationship management and solution development skills that motivate diverse work styles and manage complex people dynamics.

  • Strong executive presence including communication and presentation skills with a high degree of comfort to large and small technical audiences.  

  • Problem solving mentality leveraging internal and/or external resources, conflict resolution, and follow through with partners.   

  • Technical BS degree, Computer Science or Math background desirable.
