About the Manager of Communications and Development Role

This role will report to the Chief Project Officer and work with our PR firm to coordinate marketing, communications and development content for the Institute. We seek a highly motivated and deadline-driven individual who will take charge of and apply their own strategic thinking and ideas to a broad calendar of events, visits and collateral.

Required Experience:

The primary responsibilities will be to

  • Raise awareness of the Forsyth Institute through all channels including online, print and social media

  • Be single-point-of-contact for all researchers, administrators, Board of Directors and clinical staff for all marketing and development-related activities

  • Define, design and implement communications strategy and programs to support the Institute’s strategic priorities

  • Work with the PR firm to draft, review and edit communications pieces including press releases, conference, festival and event materials, and newsletters

  • Work with the PR firm to manage media relations and advertising channels

  • Lead weekly meetings with our PR firm team to prioritize, direct and guide deliverables

  • Manage all content and develop new ways to leverage communications through our website

  • Support the CEO & Chief Scientific Officer by gathering prospective donor information, branded materials on Forsyth’s programs for donor meetings, and other development needs

  • Lead all events including the annual fundraiser with support from event planners, PR firm and Forsyth volunteers

  • Manage donor database

  • Meet with Chief Project Officer weekly to discuss and ensure communications and development plans are aligned with Institutional plans

Candidate qualifications include

  • A bachelor’s degree

  • Excellent writing and administrative skills

  • 7+ years of related experience

  • Familiar with scientific research helpful
