Akamai is seeking a collaborative and motivated team player for a Manager, Global Internal Communications position. The primary purpose of this job is to help grow and modernize the global internal communications function and strategy for Akamai.

This role requires a strategic communicator who has a passion for creating and executing new programs, tools, processes, and experiences in the internal communications and employee experience space, thrives in a global and collaborative environment, is adept at writing, editing, and project management, and is highly skilled at leveraging a variety of traditional and digital communication channels. This individual will need to be a strong self-starter and have the ability to build relationships quickly, leveraging cross-functional partnerships regularly. When needed, this position will be willing to contribute to a wide variety of internal communications projects for the team.


  • Work with Global Internal Communications Director and team to create and implement global internal communications strategy to ensure organization meets its goals and delivers a differentiated employee experience

  • Work with Global Internal Communications Director to build and deliver new global digital signage content strategy and program management

  • Take lead in identifying, developing, and rolling out new, modern, next-generation communications tools to better engage, inform, and inspire employees globally

  • Lead and project manage key communications initiatives across divisions and functions

  • Write, edit, and manage communications to include: emails, presentations, organizational updates, program initiatives, signage copy, survey reporting/ analysis, intranet blog posts

  • Help manage data set of internal communications metrics and analysis to ensure we’re delivering meaningful and consistent results

  • Contribute to company-wide internal initiatives and events that may include All Hands, Leadership Meetings, intranet, etc.

  • Participate in Akamai’s Global Communications Network to ensure broad communications alignment and information-sharing across the functions and divisions

About the Team

Akamai’s Global Internal Communications team is a part of the broader Communications, Public Relations, and Analyst Relations team (residing within the CMO organization).

Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:

  • 5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent or

  • 3 years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree

Required Skills

  • B.A. in Communications, Journalism, or Marketing (or equivalent)

  • 5+ years of experience in communications and/or change management

  • 5+ years of experience in internal communications, driving awareness, engagement, and enhanced experiences for employee audiences

Desired Skills

  • Excellent and proven project management skills – deadline driven, well organized, and detail oriented

  • Exhibits a “customer-focused” mentality and works well with various levels in the organization

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and produce meaningful results

  • Event management experience

  • Superb verbal, written, and visual communication skills

  • Makes data-driven decisions and is experienced at communication measurement and optimization and the ability to translate lessons learned into improvements

  • Advanced understanding of digital communications tools

  • Basic experience in change management strategy and execution

  • Basic experience with people experience strategy and execution

  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally to deliver and support live events
