LIBRARY OUTREACH COORDINATOR, Media Laboratory-Learning Initiative, to work with public libraries and help to develop the public library innovation exchange (PLIX) program that brings together librarians and Media Lab researchers to co-design new education programming that can be offered in public libraries and other informal educational settings. PLIX has three components--residency exchanges, where public libraries are matched with a Media Lab researcher; online webinars and a community for librarians and Media Lab collaborators; and a public website that helps libraries adapt and deploy PLIX programs. Will coordinate all aspects of this project and develop and drive new ways to better support growth and development. Responsibilities include supporting the development of new education programing for public libraries--identifying ML researchers whose work is relevant to public libraries and identifying and developing connections with public libraries interested in collaborating with the ML; growing the community of participating public libraries, hosting and organizing webinars for public librarians, designing an onboarding pipeline, planning face-to-face PLIX workshops, and fostering a friendly and supportive online community of public libraries; serving as the main point of contact for project-related inquiries; handling outreach and communications, writing/talking about the project, hosting community calls, publishing newsletter, maintaining/expanding website and blog, etc.; and working closely with senior members of the initiative to review and refine overall strategy.
REQUIRED: track record of successful projects in education and/or public libraries, exceptional organizational skills, strong communication skills, and at least one year of experience in a project management or project coordinator role. MLS degree and work experience with public libraries preferred. Experience with online community building a plus. Job #165369/10/18
