Microsoft Corporation Industry Solutions Strategy Manager - Financial Services or Energy in Cambridge, Massachusetts

As a core member of the Americas Industry Solutions Strategy Team, the Industry Solutions Strategy Manager -

Financial Services, and Energy is accountable for activating and optimizing the consulting go-to-market to win addressable market share and contribute to accelerate customers’ business transformation. The ISSM connects strategy to execution and collaborates with global, regional, and area leadership teams to identify and prioritize opportunities for growth, drive penetration of industry-relevant solutions in prioritized territories, and remove go-to-market blockers to improve agility and reduce time-to-market. The ISSM also collaborates with the United States Industry Solutions Strategy team to augment their capabilities in each prioritized territory and continuously evolve role maturity and capabilities through coaching and joint execution.


  • Build Regional Industry Solutions Strategy Plan: Identify and prioritize growth opportunities with industry and sales leaders across areas, region, and global teams. Guide field teams through the best approach possible to drive consulting wallet share growth and coach to align territory and account plans to on-strategy plays, serving as a solution subject matter expert. Regularly review and evolve strategy to capture wallet share with industry and sales leaders to help teams focus on what matters most.

  • Drive Microsoft-Aligned Global Initiatives: Collaboration with sales leaders to accelerate value realization. Land global initiatives for prioritized solution areas and industries (including, but not limited to, Data & AI, Security, Sustainability, Service Lines, and Industry Clouds), accelerate value realization, increase close rates, and enable Day 0 consumption.

  • Drive Account & Solution Penetration: Develop and execute regional initiatives working across the organization and with partners to maximize adoption of use cases and accelerate value realization. Work with sales leaders to drive penetration of digital transformation engagements and revenue growth leveraging proven customer scenarios and industry-relevant use cases. Ensure WW prioritized customer scenarios can be executed in each area and enable feedback loop to increase win rates. Orchestrate the development of industry-relevant pre-packaged pursuits to accelerate adoption of existing solutions across customers, provide coaching and ongoing support to account teams, and engage with a sub-set of customers in territory as needed.

  • Nurture New Customer Scenarios: Work with industry and account-aligned teams to nurture new customer scenarios and use cases. Develop and execute regional initiatives working across the organization and with partners to accelerate incubation, scale new use cases, harvest emerging customer scenarios, and actively contribute to evolve capability (aka digital) models. Establish first wins and advocacy with customers, partners and internal teams and enable feedback loop to increase win rates. Nurture incubation of new customer scenarios and use cases in select accounts, where required.

  • Optimize & Evolve Industry Solutions Strategy: Work with sales leaders to identify, prioritize, and remove go-to-market blockers and gaps. Assess the execution of the customer journey across solution areas, industries, and territories to identify blockers and opportunities for go-to-market improvement and/or transformation. Collaborate with leadership to prioritize the resolution of the blockers and opportunities with the highest impact to customers and business agility. Communicate resolution roadmap to account-aligned teams.

  • Market Subject Matter Expertise: Ensure that areas maintain a comprehensive understanding of their market, including customers' industries, business priorities, and strategies across their book of business and plans programs appropriately. Coach areas team to anticipate customer needs, identifies opportunities to drive optimizations and new digitalization solutions based on customer strategies, and discusses customer needs and solutions based on customer insights. Leverages digital tools and technology to research and engage customers and ensures best practices are followed. Influence the development of plans to offer targeted solutions that satisfy customers' desired outcomes and integrate prioritized partners to our offerings. Pursue industry of choice to create more strategic relevance and value with customers and partners in that industry. Coaches and drives challenger mindset.


Required Qualifications

Key Experience, Skills, Knowledge & Education Required

  • Proven technology-related industry experience coupled with 10+ years of sales, business development, and consulting background in the specified industry or solution area.

  • Bachelor’s Degree - relevant fields of study include but not limited to Business, Marketing Strategy, Information Technology, Social, Formal, and Applied Sciences.

  • Client delivery experience including business transformation or technology implementation in large and complex engagements and/or organizations.

  • Proven experience in working with technology partners and business and strategy advisors to build and execute joint go-to-markets, growth programs, and solution offers.

  • Ability to think strategically to integrate market, industry, technology, and customer insights to inform business growth strategies and decisions.

  • Proven and consistent application of consulting skills including facilitation, envisioning, program management, change management, business architecture to build collaboration from the bottoms-up with diverse groups, translate business needs and desired outcomes to strategy, solutions, and execution.

  • Ability to work and thrive across multiple organizations (internally and externally) with effective communication and influence skills to manage downwards, upwards, and across peers (verbal and written).

Preferred Qualifications:

Key Experience, Skills, Knowledge & Education Preferred:

  • MBA or master’s degree - relevant fields of study include but not limited to Business, Marketing Strategy, Information Technology, Social, Formal, and Applied Sciences.

  • Up to date industry or solution-specific certifications.

  • Multinational and multicultural experience having worked across the America is a plus.

  • Fluency in French, Portuguese, or Spanish is a plus.

The salary for this role in the state of Colorado is between $144,600 and $216,600.

Microsoft, certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
