Thermo Fisher Scientific Industry Manager in Cambridge, Massachusetts

Position Summary:

The Industry Manager is responsible for supporting the Industry Director with building relationship and account management at customers with approximately $1 Million or greater potential and ensures market penetration and profitability at these accounts, while achieving sales and profit forecasts. The Industry Manager will support the Industry Director with all account development activities including account strategy execution and management, ongoing communication of value proposition and value-added programs and services, resource coordination, price management, initiation of RFP responses, where applicable, and achievement of forecasted profitable growth. Manages multiple Biotech segment-specific customers including State Biotech Associations (Massbio, LSPA, & NJ Bio) and their members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support corporate relationships by understanding customer life cycle and contract timeframes

  • Coordinates needs and opportunity assessments across locations

  • Support post program enrollment implementation

  • Drive contract conversion & compliance.

  • Product optimization and supplier tiering management

  • Coordination with customer & internal resources

  • Liaison between customer, IES, & operations to drive customer value

  • Measures customer satisfaction and develops strategies to improve

  • Coordinates, communicates, and supports business development initiatives and strategies with managers/sales representatives

  • Evaluate customer performance for contract compliance

  • Conducts business reviews with customers

  • Demand support

  • Drive data request (all reporting, pricing, billing, integration support, etc.)

  • Coordination of Membership events & shows

  • Unity Lab Services Support

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the entire Unity Lab Services portfolio, strengths and delivery operations to be able to configure integrated solutions that show differentiated value to the customer and the market

  • Work with the Managed Services Implementation and Operations teams on specific service opportunities to understand individual client strategies, business needs and internal barriers or considerations to implementing an enterprise services solution.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree; MBA preferred or equivalent work experience.

  • 7+ years of relevant work experience; strong background in science and the specific industry segment

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain and grow senior level customer relationships across multiple areas like Sourcing, Production, Research, Materials Management

  • Strong financial analysis, negotiation, and project management skills

  • Strong leadership skills in a matrix environment

  • Proven sales record

  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint a must; contact management software a plus
