Sanofi Group Immuno and Infl Therapeutic Head in Cambridge, Massachusetts

POSITION OBJECTIVES

· Ensure future success for Sanofi I&I through significantly advanced numbers of projects filed for approval.

· Develop and communicate a vision of I&I as key growth driver in the future.

· Structure and lead the development teams worldwide, bridging with connected functions – Discovery, Market Access, Marketing, Regulatory & Medical Affairs - to fulfil the vision.

· Represent Sanofi I&I Development inside and outside Sanofi.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

In collaboration with Commercial Franchise Head:

· Articulate and execute I&I therapeutic area portfolio strategy

· Develop integrated strategies and plans for projects across life cycle, with focus on maximizing brand value

· Prioritize activity and resource allocation across therapeutic area portfolio

· Insure oversight and governance of I&I therapeutic area portfolio as co-chair of Therapeutic Area Review Committee (TARC)

· Facilitate R&D and corporate governance/resourcing of projects through direct interactions with the Development Working Group and Integrated Development Council

Direct accountability for:

· Executing and delivering the early and late development pipeline from GLP toxicology to approval and successful market access

· To collaborate with Research and Translational Medicine, in executing and delivering the early development pipeline

· Insuring rigor of evidence generation strategies to maximize product target value

· Anticipating and mitigating risk

· Monitoring project progression, developing anticipatory plans to address potential variance to timelines and budgets

· Direct management and oversight of Global Project Teams/Global Project Heads

· Managing financial and human resource allocation, working with global platform leadership to insure sufficient resources allocated to effectively execute against approved plans

· Developing best in industry talent to deliver on pipeline and support global Development organization

Reporting lines:

· Reports, solid line, to Head of Global Development

· Direct reports include Global Project Heads, Head of Early Development I&I and Unit Management Office Staff

· Strong interactions in a matrixed organization with global functions including Clinical Science & Operations, Regulatory, Value & Access, Medical Affairs, Strategy & Business Development

Member of:

· Development Management Committee

· Global R&D Senior Management Committee

· Co-chair, Therapeutic Area Review Committee

· Chair, Therapeutic Area Protocol Review Committee

Basic Qualifications:

· MD or MD, PHD

· 10 + years of industry experience in clinical development with deep Immuno-Inflammatory therapeutic expertise and a successful track record in leading projects through development, registration, approval and successful market access

Preferred Qualifications:

· Substantial history of clinical development leadership, with Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and change

· Experience managing direct and indirect reports

· Hands on experience of re-building and re-shaping a development group

· A positive, motivational and enthusiastic leader who is driven by the need to ‘make a difference’ to the organization and to the Immuno-Inflammatory world

· Academic position in the past is an asset with participation as a principal investigator in clinical trials recommended

· Proven success at managing groups- academically or in industry

· FDA and EMA interactions (FDA panel, meetings, scientific advice, oral explanation etc) supporting multiple submissions

· Experience in different geographies
