Head of Portfolio Marketing, US Rare Blood Disorders

Summary

The Head of Portfolio Marketing, US Rare Blood Disorders (RBD) is responsible for developing the unbranded Portfolio strategy for Sanofi’s Rare Blood Disorders therapeutic area, and for overseeing the strategic and tactical execution of that strategy. The Head of Portfolio Marketing will play a key role in developing the key performance objectives of the portfolio plan and will lead and manage a small team. The RBD Portfolio Marketing team leads the development and execution of several key initiatives that are internal, external and operational to support the communities in hemophilia, acquired thrombotic thrombocytopenia purpura (aTTP), cold agglutinin disease (CAD), and immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). This includes developing and executing strategies and plans for all healthcare professional and patient congresses; identifying ways to engage employees; finding opportunities to simplify our ways of working; managing the Promotional Review Board process; supporting major internal commercial meetings, and leading important franchise projects. Additionally, Portfolio Marketing will lead Rare Blood Disorder digital initiatives that cross various therapeutic areas and brand teams. This position reports to the U.S. GM of Rare Blood Disorders and is a key member of the franchise leadership team.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for key Marketing Operations for the franchise including congress strategy, management of the Promotional Review Board process, fulfillment and the annual budget plan.

  • Leads key unbranded marketing initiatives including transversal digital tactics.

  • Helps to develop both internal and external narratives; manages cross-franchise communication.

  • Identifies opportunities to engage employees and creates action plans; oversees current activities, including a team of culture carriers, an expanded leadership team, and an onboarding program.

  • Organizes regular team meetings, include large-scale plan of action (POA) meetings.

  • Participates in regular meetings with Operations leads across Specialty Care.

  • Closely collaborates with key functions including Advocacy, Patient Services, brand marketing, Sales, Medical, Regulatory and Legal.

  • As a senior member of the Rare Blood Disorders leadership team, works collectively on the identification and implementation of process improvements and other efficiencies.

  • Develops and manages the Portfolio Marketing budget.

  • Manages external partners and agencies as appropriate.

  • Responsible for oversight and effective management of all team members (i.e., direct and indirect reports) to include but not limited to the following:

  • Annual objective setting

  • Mid-year and end-of-year reviews

  • Coaching and counseling as appropriate

  • Employee development

  • Recruitment, selection, development, and retention of talent

  • Managing, directing & measuring work on an ongoing basis. Provides timely constructive feedback to ensure quality of work meets or exceeds company standards

  • Liaises with Legal/Compliance to ensure compliance of all marketing programs

  • Ensures proper staff assignment and timely completion of appropriate training

  • 20-30% travel, including international

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA preferred

  • 10+ years professional experience across pharma/biotech and healthcare consulting

  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

  • Leadership, relationship management, conflict resolution and ability to work collaboratively, along with strong organizational and operational skills

  • Ability to execute multiple projects simultaneously under tight timelines
