As a WW Industry Strategy Director, you’ll be critical to optimizing industry focused IoT Sales & Consumption with a specialization in Manufacturing.
The IoT Industry Sales and Strategy team is responsible for leading the industry sales strategy, planning, landing and coordination with Industry teams across Microsoft, to accelerate engagement aligned to Industry Scenarios, and sales plays to achieve IoT revenue goals. Our team engages with the EOU, Engineering, Business Group (BG), Global Partner Solution, Customer Success, as well as Small, Medium, & Corporate (SMC) businesses to develop priority enterprise and scale motions with executable go-to-market strategies and initiatives. We lead the envisioning of new opportunities and products with customers and partners across Microsoft’s IoT ecosystem.
Global IoT Industry Strategy Director, Manufacturing - As a Manufacturing Industry leader in the Corp IoT Solutions Sales team you’ll be a visible leader internally and externally with the opportunity to influence and work with many of the most senior leaders in the company. You’ll be responsible for developing strategic guidance from an industry perspective on early-stage opportunities with customers of strategic accounts to identify, generate, and foster new business through industry prioritized solutions. You will partner with regional leads, orchestrate appropriate resources to converge, support, and convert opportunities into consumption wins. The IoT Industry Strategy Director, Manufacturing will also collaborate with account teams, internal and external stakeholders to build pipeline within the industry area globally. The WW IoT Industry Strategy Director (IoT Manufacturing Lead) acts as a dotted-line partner into the Enterprise Commercial Manufacturing Industry Team Lead.
This role requires the leader to influence and collaborate with engineering, product, marketing, and finance teams to define the focused sales plays, programs, and competitive readiness to reach our business goals. The leader defines how to align area sales leads to the portfolio of Industry priorities that span a highly complex set of mature and emerging IoT solutions and applies a portfolio management approach to the investment required in the global sales organization.
This role requires subject matter expertise in IoT for Manufacturing, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data and Analytics to drive efficiencies, innovate and help Manufacturing organizations capitalize on opportunities develop new revenue streams.
Strategy Development & Evolution: Leverage Microsoft platform and competitive industry knowledge to partner with Engineering,Product Marketing, Services and Partner teams to create a multi-year strategic roadmap of field sales strategy and high value sales motions and customer offerings
B usiness Strategy : Develop Industry strategies and landing models to effectively scale existing and introduce new sales model concepts forIoT solutionsacross Microsoft Enterprise customer segments and Partner/Channel communities.
Sales Strategy: Focuses on high-potential customers with accounts that could lead to long-term engagements. Leverages the internal resources (e.g., account management team, partners) to land value proposition and providevision that aligns with customers' needs andMicrosoft IoTsolutions. Scales by identifying and driving broader challenges and defining sales plays to scale.
Business Partner: Manage and cultivates relationships with senior internal leaders (e.g.,SR Director,GM, CVP).
Business Partner: Acts as an advisor to senior leadership as a domain expert within Microsoft, leveraging deep technical/product andIndustryknowledge, market awareness, and subject matter expertise to inform strategic business decisions.
Business Partner: Demonstrates influences through partners across multiple divisions.
Commercial Adaptability: Proactively adapt sales guidance and content based on latest competitive intelligence,cross-solution/cloud needs, andindustry-specific GTM requirements
Market Strategy: Develops and maintains an understanding of customers, competitors, partners, business models, market sizing, and industry trends.
Field Landing & Readiness: Ensure successful rollout across the world to help land sales initiatives, GTMs, andIndustryreadiness plans. Includes as appropriate engagement in virtual training, Executive meetings, field readiness events, etc.
Best Practice Sharing: Partner with internal stakeholders and business sponsors to maximize sales synergy via knowledge transfer and best practices sharing.
Travel and Re-location

- 5+ years of experience working in the manufacturing industry
10+ years proven experience working in the manufacturing industry
OR Bachelor's Degree and 8+ years proven experience working in the manufacturing industry
OR Master's Degree and 5+ years of proven experience working in the manufacturing industry
3+ years proven people management or matrix management experience.
The salary for this role in the state of Colorado is between $144,600 and $216,600.
At Microsoft, certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
