Bachelor’s degree with 10 or more years’ experience operating in a leadership role in one or more of an academic setting, public or private sector technology-related organization, or research institution.

  • Engaged in extensive research and fundraising

  • Managed a dynamic research or innovative technology environment

  • Operated in a not-for-profit or academic institution with variable funding conditions

  • Senior level leadership experience (head of organization or large function within organization)

  • Organized diverse team members toward shared goals while enabling pursuit of independent goals¿

  • A strong academic and/or technology community reputation

  • An ability to weave together disparate or competing means and goals towards a synthetic whole

  • Led (or had a significant role in leading) an organization through an important strategic or programmatic transition with demonstrated keen project or program management skills

Additional Information:

This is a term appointment currently expected to extend through June 30, 2023 with the potential for renewal, subject to departmental funding and need.

As the Executive Director, you will:

  • Collaborate closely with the BKC Board of Directors, the Faculty Director, the Managing Director, and other key stakeholders to update mission and strategy for the Center.

  • Use established mission/strategy to make critical decisions about Center priorities and communicate that vision broadly to internal and external communities.

  • Serve as an ambassador for BKC and a peer to counterparts in sibling academic centers and public interest organizations, as well as to affiliated faculty whose work may be augmented through BKC.

  • Work with funding and research hand-offs from the BKC board and other senior stakeholders, leveraging BKC’s academic reputation and research capabilities to help complicated projects be not only successful but pathbreaking

  • Develop a keen understanding of BKC’s value and significance to the many people and professions it touches and draws in over time, and work with the Board of Directors, the faculty directors and senior leadership to shape the Center’s next stage.

  • Collaborate with the BKC Managing Director and other senior staff to support an effective and smooth transition of both leadership and Center mission.

  • As the CEO of the Center, oversee the effective leadership of management and resources, both directly funded and externally funded, to deliver research, programming, and community development consistent with BKC’s mission, all while exhibiting a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • Engage with supporters and funders of BKC, both to explore and encourage new avenues of support and to ensure stewardship and communication for existing support.
