EDITORIAL AND CONTENT SPECIALIST, Institute Office of Communications, to provide editorial support and content strategy for MIT communication products. Will analyze content of, edit, and revise assigned products based on communications goals and in adherence with Institute editorial standards; improve products by measuring content against industry standards, benchmarks, and business objectives; implement a best-practices approach for the planning, creation, delivery, and governance of content; lead content audits and map to identify strengths, weaknesses, gaps, and opportunities; develop and facilitate user surveys and focus groups to collect user feedback; provide guidance on strategic planning, interoffice collaborations, communications, and initiatives; establish comprehensive publication schedules and coordinate and track the workflow of various publications; hire freelance copyeditors; train and supervise temporary editorial staff; and work with supervisor on special projects as assigned.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, or related field; at least three years of experience with web publishing; excellent writing, editing, and oral communication, project management, and organization skills; ability to set priorities and work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of staff and vendors; attention to detail and presentation; and willingness to learn new software as needed. PREFERRED: experience with Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign and Acrobat Pro), Drupal, and WordPress; Macintosh technical proficiency; and MIT experience.
