In September 2020, Spero announced positive top-line results from its Phase 3 ADAPT-PO clinical trial of tebipenem HBr in complicated urinary tract infection and acute pyelonephritis. Spero is also advancing SPR720, its oral antimicrobial agent in development for the treatment of nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) pulmonary disease, a rare orphan disease. Spero’s third product candidate, SPR206, is an IV-administered agent being developed as an innovative option to treat MDR Gram-negative bacterial infections.

General Scope and Summary of Role

This is a unique opportunity to work in a key position on Spero’s first commercial launch team, creating a path to bring new medicines to patients. We are looking for an individual with expertise in market access and the ability to turn strategies and ideas into action.

The Director will play a critical role in driving the successful launch and commercialization of our lead product as the strategic and functional lead for US product pricing and contracting. This individual will work closely with market access, trade & distribution, finance, and manufacturing. This position reports to the Sr. Director Market Access Operations.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide analytics support for establishing Payer and Provider Strategies for any commercial products.

  • Perform Payer Account specific pre and post deal analytics, synthesize insights and help develop powerpoint slides; analysis will incorporate implications to GTN

  • Support the development of US Pricing Committee materials and maintaining the Committee decision trackers etc.

  • Develop processes and vendor relationships to comply with government price reporting requirements.

  • Establish financial modeling to support gross-to-net calculation and reporting; ensuring inputs from all classes of trade are defined and accounted for.

  • Develop process and manage rebate administration for all classes of trade.

  • Develop and maintain consistent demand and gross-to-net forecast model.

  • Perform pricing analysis to inform contracting/rebating strategy.

  • Partner with Trade & Distribution to ensure returns and chargeback policies are in line with business objectives.

  • Partner with Finance on P&L administration by providing all necessary commercial finance inputs.

    What You’ll Need

  • 7+ years of market access / managed markets experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, with a demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding objectives and goals

  • Expert knowledge of government pricing regulations and operations

  • The position requires very strong analytical capabilities, cross-functional team leadership skills, and the ability to manage and lead

  • Experience with Part D and PBM contracting

  • Strong modeling skills with advanced proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint

  • Understanding of processes across functional areas including Channel/Trade, Commercial Contracting, Government Contracting, Patient Assistance, Commercial Rebates, Government Rebates, and Chargebacks.

  • Start-up company experience preferred

  • Communication – ability to communicate ideas, both verbal and written, in a persuasive and appropriate manner.

  • Analytical skills – ability to analyze and leverage data/reports to identify trends and opportunities.
