DIRECTOR, MARKETING PROGRAMS, ANNUAL FUND, Alumni Association, to lead MIT’s donor acquisition and retention strategy across several integrated marketing channels. Will ensure the success of broad-based efforts for the Annual Fund, which has presently raised nearly $90 million and cultivates a donor community of more than 45,000 alumni, students, and friends of the Institute. Responsibilities include developing and overseeing the execution of direct-response marketing strategies, including direct mail, email, crowdfunding, and telemarketing solicitations in support of broad-based support of MIT; working in close collaboration with the Strategic Communications and Marketing (SCM) team of the Alumni Association to develop effective, measurable digital and print creative that meets the goals of the Annual Fund direct-response marketing strategies; supervising a team of marketing channel experts tasked with meeting annual donor retention, reactivation, and acquisition goals; and serving as liaison to constituent departments and volunteers as appropriate. Will report to the executive director of the Annual Fund within the MIT Alumni Association.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; at least seven years’ fund-raising experience, preferably in an academic or nonprofit setting; at least three years’ experience supervising staff, setting goals, and managing performance and budgets; expertise with direct marketing practices and techniques, including test strategies, segmentation strategies, and measuring results; analytical and strategic planning skills; ability to execute all campaigns developed as part of a defined strategy; strong time management, interpersonal, problem solving, and verbal and written communication skills; familiarity with current trends in web- and email-based fund-raising; strong computer skills, including word-processing, desktop publishing, and spreadsheet software; and familiarity with databases, preferably Advance.
