KSQ Therapeutics Director, Business Development in Cambridge, Massachusetts

At KSQ Therapeutics, we seek to understand the role of every human gene in each disease, each tissue, and each cell that we study. This comprehensive approach has resulted in a massive, experimentally derived dataset that we have found to be remarkably predictive of past successes and failures in oncology and immuno-oncology product development. Utilizing this approach, we also identified a number of opportunities for the development of new medicines. As a result, we have aggressively invested in these distinct, highly validated pathways for new drug development with the expectation that the medicines we create may become the next breakthrough products for patients.

Founded in late 2015, KSQ is a preclinical-stage biotech in Kendall Square that has rapidly advanced the field of CRISPR-enabled functional genomics, from in vitro cell autonomous screens to more complex genome-scale screens of immune cells in vivo. The company has expanded the scope of its technology to include multiple cell types and to unlock areas beyond oncology. KSQ is led by a team of accomplished industry experts in drug discovery and development.

Position Summary:

The Director of Business Development is a unique opportunity to drive the business development related efforts for platform development, pipeline development and partnerships at a growing biotech.

  • Build relationships and form partnerships with partners: to support licensing of selected programs.

  • Lead the evaluation, due diligence, structuring, negotiation and presentation of BD opportunities to key governance bodies and drive the execution of endorsed strategies.

  • Collaborate with all key functions to support the above: CSO, CTO, CMO, CFO and their teams to achieve the goals above

  • Manages business relationship and counsels business partners, internally and externally on transactions and strategic issues pertaining to licensing/strategic alliance arrangements.

  • Competitive landscape and database review: to support the above

  • Facilitate internal interactions and interactions between KSQ and external parties to achieve the above

  • Facilitate internal business development processes, drive efficiencies and improve deal execution and management


  • MBA, MS and/or PhD preferred

  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience with exposure to R&D

  • Strategic thinker with good quantitative analytical abilities and ability to understand and translate complex scientific concepts into core business objectives

  • Strong project and time management skills ensuring effective and efficient decision making and issue resolution

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability present to/communicate with executive leadership.

  • Proven track record at sourcing, structuring, negotiating and closing different types of partnerships from discovery stage assets through development stage

  • Strong presentation and communication skills; candidate should feel comfortable presenting to groups

  • Some degree of financial knowledge, including basic accounting and valuation analysis

  • Self-motivation and an affinity for a start-up, entrepreneurial environment is a must
