As part of the broader Industry Solutions team, CT&I aspires to deliver a customer experience journey that accelerates value realization and bridges the innovation gap by bringing together an integrated set of consultative sales capabilities at the beginning of this journey.

About the Role - Digital Advisor, Retail & Consumer Goods

As part of the CT&I organization, ourDigital Advisorsknow their customer’s business,the industryin whichthey operate, andhowMicrosoft canhelp them drive their Digital transformation.The broad scope of responsibility of this role requires a solid understanding of both business and technology strategy, a principled approach to broad digital transformational challenges and opportunitiesincludingstrong leadership and people skills. They also share a common set of characteristicsand bring the experiencethatwilldrive innovation and Customer value.


Executive Engagement

  • Engage the C-Suite and other senior business leaders to develop a strategic relationship and partnership framework for doing big things together

  • Leverage your executive presence skills to form strong connections with C-suite executives and other senior business leaders, including executive-level communication, gravitas, active listening, and exceptional interpersonal aptitude

Business Vision

  • Develop business insights based on research efforts, market analysis and proactive collaboration with the customer, industry teams and other sales support teams

  • Shape provocative business strategies that challenge customers to think big about potential business opportunities and new products and ways of engaging customers

  • Co-develop the customer’s business opportunity landscape across three investment horizons: [1] defend market position, [2] grow market position, and [3] change market position with new business models

Business Transformation

  • Innovate with customers as an accomplished design thinker

  • Prioritize and refine business opportunities across the three horizons of investment, positioned in a program roadmap

  • Leverage your industry and cross-industry expertise to co-envision future business scenarios such as customer or workforce experience, operations processes, or products

  • Identify business capability gaps and orchestrate with others to identify solutions that close those gaps

Value Case

  • Develop a deep understating of key stakeholder motivations to construct a creative story narrative that connects emotionally and persuasively

  • Develop business cases using techniques such as value engineering, risk adjusted ROI, and NPV analysis

  • Identify and quantify tangible and intangible benefits that align with stakeholder motivations

  • Work with the customer to develop a financial business case that frames value measures in alignment with the customer’s preferred approach

Depth Sales Motions

  • Ignite new business transformation opportunities by thinking big with senior business executives

  • You are a sales leader, helping to accelerate and de-risk pursuits while simultaneously lifting the level of conversation and broadening opportunity scope

  • Leverage an extensive internal network and organizational understanding to help orchestrate the right internal experts at appropriate pre-sales stages

  • You are a leader in your accounts, providing the voice of the customer to internal teams, including insights, feedback, and challenges

Interpersonal Aptitude

  • You exhibit exceptional interpersonal aptitude and high emotional quotient through self-awareness, body language, active listening, empathy, effective communication, and other traits that are critical to forming deep relationships

  • Leveraging techniques to elevate the effectiveness of account sales team members and other transformation advisors

  • Influence the behaviors of others and gain customer agreement through advanced interpersonal skills and clever communication


Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business or related field AND 6+ years management and/or consulting, consultative selling, or related technical work or internship experience

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years of industry experience as a leader or management consultant in the retail/consumer goods industry

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ years of industry experience as a leader or management consultant with deep RCG expertise

  • Experience shaping multi-year, multi-horizon digital transformation programs into strategic partnerships

  • Master's or Doctorate Degree in Business

  • Thought leader with executive presence, including ability to hold CXO and BDMs level discussions, conduct executive-level envisioning sessions, and exceptional interpersonal, verbal, written and presentation skills

  • Understanding of current and emerging Digital Solutions in the RCG ecosystem

Location/Travel: You may be based anywhere in the United States. You can expect travel, up to 50%, contingent upon Covid-19 restrictions.

The salary for this role in the state of Colorado is between $131,900 to $197,500.

At Microsoft, certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
