COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER, Edgerton Center (part-time, 50-60%), to develop and deliver content across a wide variety of channels (digital, print, social) in support of the mission and ethos of the Edgerton Center (https://edgerton.mit.edu/) . Will identify, write, and edit high visibility stories for Edgerton Center digital properties and MIT News; lead content creation, including design of visual graphics, writing, copy-editing, and production for resource development needs and special projects; manage design, content, and delivery of targeted e-newsletter and event communications; work with the center’s development officer on fund-raising initiatives; design presentations and collateral; maintain a photographic and video content database; write and produce reports; perform data analysis on external digital communications and enable special projects; plan, produce, and publicize events; manage external media journalists and film-makers; manage and art direct external vendors for multimedia endeavors; maintain website, triage website issues, manage payment processing system, track analytics, undertake ongoing content review, and identify ways to increase site visibility; manage production and implementation of website in concert with developers, designers, and staff; serve as internal authority on use of MIT name; and manage copyright requirements.
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in related field; at least five years’ communications experience, including writing and editing, graphic design, project management, marketing and analytics, and current digital and print delivery channels; self-motivation; team player; ability to manage internal (including sensitive information) and external communications in a complex organizational structure; demonstrated visual design, writing, editing, and verbal communication skills supporting a variety of collateral; ability to address and resolve problems systematically and creatively in the context of MIT’s mission.
