COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER, Jameel Clinic for Machine Learning in Health (J-Clinic), to work with the director and J-Clinic faculty to develop and implement communications, marketing, and outreach efforts to promote the Jameel Clinic to industry, the general public, faculty, current and prospective students, and the greater MIT community. Will manage, create, and measure social media content, including conceptualizing and implementing new communications initiatives and establishing a regular reporting system to share analytics and trends; manage a monthly newsletter; conceptualize, write, and/or edit content for multiple channels and projects, leading the video productions; serve as the media relations contact; manage J-Clinic podcast and newsletter; and coordinate video productions.
REQUIRED: bachelor's degree (master’s preferred) in journalism, communications or related field; at least four years’ communications experience (including content creation, digital communications, project management, and media relations), preferably in science and/or technology fields; excellent project management, editorial, content development, proofreading, fact-checking, and written and oral communication skills; up-to-date experience with and extensive knowledge of digital communications platforms; experience working across social media channels and web platforms; media relations experience and ability to work with journalists; high-level proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop); experience crafting compelling PowerPoint presentations and leveraging metrics to market and evolve programs/initiatives; track record of prioritizing multiple work assignments and meeting deadlines; ability to collaborate across all organizational units in a team-oriented environment; discretion and judgment with sensitive information/issues; strong research and interviewing skills, including ability to develop, assess, and synthesize information and translate complex scientific concepts for a general audience; ability to copy-edit writing for grammar, spelling, accuracy, format, tone, and AP style.
