COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR, MIT Climate, provides both strategic and creative communications advice to the Vice President for Climate and leads implementation of communications to promote the Climate Project; sets communications and marketing strategy and directs implementation of communications and marketing programs and initiatives; and designs and delivers compelling communications to build awareness and interest in the Climate Project among potential donors.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in a related field; a minimum of seven years of experience in communications, fundraising, fundraising communications, writing, journalism, or related field; demonstrated track record of creativity and strategic acumen in developing communications that can reach audiences effectively in a crowded communications landscape; demonstrated record of thinking across platforms, modes, and mediums to carry out a strategy, from editorial and print to video and social media to events, meetings, speeches and other in-person engagement; experience with resource development, including resource development communications and direct exposure to donors and prospective donors; comfort with scientific and technical subjects, whether communicating with technically sophisticated audiences or distilling essential concepts into clear, comprehensible, and compelling messaging for broader audiences; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, collaborating in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; an interest in and familiarity with climate change in its various dimensions; robust oral communications and presentation skills; an appreciation for the distinctive culture and values of MIT; proficiency with a range of communication platforms, including print, video, photography, audio, email, social media, and web; and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
