COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT, MIT INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE AND TECHNLOGY INITIATIVES (MISTI), Center for International Studies (CIS), to perform a variety of communications duties under the supervision of the communications manager. Responsibilities include designing and producing country-specific event posters for info sessions and talks and other MISTI-central materials such as information cards and student folders; drafting and editing content for marketing materials, social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram), proposals, reports, and other written material; coordinating event logistics and advertising for fall open house, trainings, campus recruitment activities, etc.; producing and editing video content for online training modules and program promotion; preparing PowerPoint presentations; maintaining website and helping train staff in website maintenance; purchasing goods and services for the program, tracking program accounts, and paying invoices; and performing other tasks as needed.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: at least three years’ communications, marketing, writing, design, or related experience; demonstrated ability to design print materials, create new written content, and produce video; superior writing, editing, and proofreading skills; attention to detail and accuracy; ability to prioritize, handle multiple and varied tasks, follow through on work, and meet deadlines; ability to work both independently and as part of a team and interact with a diverse group of faculty, students, and staff; excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to maintain confidentiality; experience maintaining and developing websites using a content management system (e.g., Drupal), disseminating email marketing using tools such as Constant Contact and MailChimp, creating and modifying documents using Adobe InDesign and Illustrator, and editing photos in Adobe Photoshop; technical proficiency with MS Office; and willingness to learn new programs/software as needed. Bachelor’s degree in communications and MIT experience preferred. Job #16804-5 Occasional weekday evening and weekend work will be required 11/19/18
