Description

The Communications Strategist will work as part of a consulting team at the Volpe Center in Cambridge, MA, providing support across the areas of marketing and communications, including writing and editing, marketing and product strategy, brand management, public and community relations, email communications, social media engagement, and web marketing strategy and design. Support will also include program analysis support and developing, creating, and producing business and technical reports, brochures, and other publications and related materials for transportation projects.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in:

  • Communications strategy

  • Brand management

  • Web strategy and content management

  • Writing and editing for a variety of communication channels (print, web, email, etc.)

  • Additional duties include:

  • Developing, presenting, and executing strategies and project plans, identifying problem areas and recommending resolutions

  • Crafting and presenting pitches to clients

  • Collaborating with graphic design professionals on crafting and applying a consistent visual identity

  • Leading integrated communication campaigns

  • Developing, creating, and producing publications, such as business and technical reports, educational materials and user guides, and brochures and marketing collateral.

  • Coordinating materials through internal and client review processes, incorporating input and iterating to completion.

    Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism, English, Public Relations, Marketing, or related discipline

  • Master’s degree a plus

  • 5-8 years of relevant experience

  • Experience writing and editing, working with graphics, and marketing and production

  • Must be a self-starter, self-motivated, and able to work on multiple diverse tasks

  • Expert use of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
