Philips Communication Design Consultant in Cambridge, Massachusetts


In this role, you have the opportunity

To work with multi-disciplinary teams in bringing insights, strategies, ideas, and stories to life.

You are responsible for

  • Work on complex health system projects that solve patient, caregiver and/or staff challenges.

  • Support internal businesses and design teams, creating compelling visual communication artifacts that aid in storytelling and demonstrating design value.

  • Support creation of external facing marketing materials that meet the goals and professionalism required by the Design Consulting team.

  • Collaborate with designers with different backgrounds such as Industrial Designer, Interaction Designers, Design Researchers, Service Designers, and Environments Designers to develop solutions for our clients.

  • Create visual communication reports, deliverables and documents that help tell a project’s story.

  • Work with the established brand design language and visual system, and liaison with Brand Design team as required.

  • Be an advocate of exceptional design.

You are a part of

The Strategic Design Consulting team, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team working with hospitals and health systems across the healthcare continuum to improve patient and staff outcomes and experiences.

The Philips Design global creative force of some 400+ professionals is located in our Design studios in Europe, North America and Asia. You will be part of an amazing cross-disciplinary team that includes architects & interior designers, product design, interaction design, service design, people research, communication design, and project management. As part of the Cambridge team, you will be co-located with product managers, R&D scientists and business leaders defining the future of many of Philips’ businesses.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, New Media, or an equivalent degree

  • A minimum of 3 years graphic design experience across a variety of digital media

  • Experience in concept ideation, design strategy, art direction and production

  • Aware of Design Thinking practices (stakeholder mapping, insights mapping, value proposition, storyboarding, design research, prototyping, etc)

  • Experience working with designers from different backgrounds

  • You have strong verbal, written, and visual presentation skills. You understand the value of design and brand within a business context.

  • Fluency across a variety of visual media including mastery of Powerpoint, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Additional skills in Sketch, After Effects, or digital prototyping tools are a bonus
