State and Local Government Business Development Manager – Public Safety & Justice

The Business Development Manager (BDM) for Justice & Public Safety (PS&J) reports to the US State & Local Government Solution Team Director. The PS&J BDM’s role is to understand the challenges facing government public safety agency customers – and then drive impact and influence through thought leadership and Microsoft/partner solutions. The PS&J BDM will be a part of a virtual team that includes PS&J-focused account executives, solution architects, partner managers, consultants, government relations specialists, and other key stakeholders across Microsoft.

This individual will work collaboratively across the State & Local Government Business Development Team and participate in the development of a comprehensive business plan focused on achieving revenue and strategic objectives over a 3-year period. The business plan should be comprehensive in nature and reflect the responsibilities of different Microsoft State & Local Government team members.



  • Identifying significant justice and public safety challenges

  • Developing the strategy for driving solutions into the PS&J market

  • Identifying partners that are driving mission-focused solutions and develop plans to bring these partners into the Microsoft partner ecosystem

  • Determining the fit for Microsoft and its ecosystem of partners to help agencies to address these challenges

  • Serving as Capture Manager for a small number of high profile pursuits

  • Driving early wins, referenceable customers, and case studies
