Sage Therapeutics Associate Director, Medical Communications in Cambridge, Massachusetts

SAGE Therapeutics is searching for a resourceful, results-oriented, integrative thinker for a role that is responsible for management of medical communications including symposia, webinars, and other non-CME medical education. The Associate Director is responsible for interacting with various agencies, KOLs, and internal SAGE departments to lead communications planning and management for assigned therapeutic areas (TA) while ensuring compliance with good publication practices and scientific merit of medical publications.

Roles and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Execute a medical communications strategy for assigned therapeutic area. Works with internal and external subject matter experts in actively facilitating the development non-CME medical education.

  • Manages medical writing and external vendor activity to ensure timely delivery and submission of materials.

  • Ensure consistent adherence to internal policies through active management of the material (eg, slide decks, infographics, etc) development process.

  • Lead cross functional strategic efforts in alignment with product development teams to ensure prioritized materials to address unmet educational needs.

  • Manages assigned medical communications spend to ensure accurate accounting and reconciliation to available budget.

  • Collaborates with HEOR, Communications and Field Medical teams to translate available publications into medical communications and educational resources.

  • Ensure fair balance and integrity in development of medical publications.

  • Represent SAGE in ongoing collaboration with KOLs at various scientific and clinical congress meetings.

Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ Degree in a clinical and/or scientific background

  • 4+ years in a biotechnology/pharmaceutical environment required. Prior Women’s Health, Neurology, and/or Psychiatry experience is preferred.

  • 3+ years’ experience in managing medical communications efforts in a highly matrixed organization. and significant biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry

Preferred Qualifications

  • Must possess excellent communication and project management skills, and proven ability to effectively collaborate and influence decision-making across multiple levels of an organization.

  • Must be willing and able to travel for scientific congress meetings as necessary.

  • Must be able to actively manage and track complex projects in parallel, structuring the actions of many people toward share outcomes.

  • Strong team player that has a customer service approach and is solution oriented.

  • Attention to detail and the ability to work individually, within a multi-disciplinary team, as well as with external partners and vendors.
