Biogen Associate Director, Business Development in Cambridge, Massachusetts

About This Role The Associate Director, Business Development will support transaction target screening and evaluation, assessment of potential targets and execution of Business Development and Licensing, M&A and other transactions that enable and accelerate Biogen’s long-term strategy. This individual will support and lead projects, execute due diligence, play a key role in negotiations, contribute to the creation of presentations to senior leadership committees, and contribute to the development of transaction strategy and tactics. This role will report to a Director of Business Development, covering licensing, collaborations and M&A opportunities across all stages of development in Biogen’s core and adjacent therapeutic areas. What You’ll Do * Support Business Development and Licensing and M&A target screening and evaluation process from identification of external opportunities through to contract negotiation * Manage and lead business development project process across a range of deal types and all key therapeutic areas of Biogen * Manage cross-functional teams to lead due diligence and build the business case for potential transactions * Provide support for Business Development and M&A and other corporate transactions in partnership with Corporate Development, Corporate Finance, Commercial, R&D, and other functions * Understand strategy of the organization and work collaboratively across the organization to identify, evaluate, and, as appropriate, execute transactions Who You Are You are a results-oriented individual who is experienced with assessing multiple business development or M&A transactions. You love analyzing data, identifying continuous improvement opportunities, and excel in building relationships with business stakeholders in a dynamic environment. Required Skills * 7+ years in biotech, pharmaceutical, management consulting, or investment banking environments; 3+ years business development, M&A or licensing experience * Undergraduate degree required; preferably scientific, medical or business. * Understanding of and experience with Business Development and/or M&A process, including due diligence, valuation, financial, legal, and operational considerations * Experience assessing multiple potential M&A / BD transactions * Deep understanding of key drivers of value for transactions and how they can be measured and quantified; outstanding analytic and strategic skills * High degree of comfort managing through significant ambiguity and complexity * Highly motivated, results-oriented individual who is likely to have significant experience and/or training in a high intensity environment * Understanding of the drug development process and working knowledge of the essential activities for key functional areas * Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including specifically, the skills needed to manage difficult conversations and interactions as they arise Preferred Skills * Advanced degree strongly preferred (MBA) The Associate Director, Business Development will support transaction target screening and evaluation, assessment of potential targets and execution of Business Development and Licensing, M&A and other transactions that enable and accelerate Biogen’s long-term strategy.
