Massachusetts Maritime Academy Staff Associate Audio Visual Technician in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts

General Statement of Duties: The Audio-Visual Technical Specialist is responsible for evaluating, designing, installing, operating, supporting and documenting all audio-visual equipment and technology at Massachusetts Maritime Academy. In addition, the Audio-Visual Technical Specialist will provide audio-video equipment and support at requested Academy events. Responsibilities: Provide support for the audio-visual equipment located in classrooms, simulation labs, computer labs, lecture halls, conference rooms and the Academy?s training ship. Evaluate, design, test and install new audio-visual equipment. Perform routine preventative maintenance and undertake needed repairs to ensure audio-visual equipment is fully operational and up-to-date. Ensure audio-visual equipment has sufficient and current hardware and software maintenance Program room control systems to implement the operational functions needed. Ensure operational consistency of audiovisual systems, whenever possible. Manage assigned tickets by prioritizing, researching and resolving, and interacting directly with customers in a timely manner. Escalate issues to support vendors, when needed. Catalog and maintain an accurate audio-visual equipment inventory, which includes consumables and spare/back-up equipment. Prepare rooms/spaces with audio-visual equipment and provide audio-visual services to support Academy events, as requested. Contract with preferred vendors to provide audio-video services and support, when needed. Support and maintain the Digital Signage system on campus. Provide training to faculty, staff, students, and guest presenters on the operation of audio-visual equipment. Create technical documentation, online resources, and on-demand video tutorials for the operation and support of audio-video equipment. Maintain industry knowledge of new technologies, trends, best practices and relevant innovations in an effort to continually improve audio-visual capabilities. Required Qualifications: Associate degree in computer science, engineering or a related field. 3-5 years? experience in audio-visual support, service, and programming systems. Experience supporting computer networking, PC hardware, operating systems and software. Experience supporting video conferencing systems and virtual meeting solutions. Experience with a wide range of audio-visual vendors and products, including DSPs, mixers, speakers, microphones, projectors and displays. Experience reading audio-visual schematics, diagrams and drawings. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team and to produce high quality work under tight deadlines. Ability to lift 50 lbs. independently and heavier loads with assistance. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor degree in computer science, engineering or a related field. Current certifications in the audio-visual or in computer technology areas. Experience working in a higher education environment. Salary: $70,000 to $72,000. The Academy offers generous benefits policies and a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Academy is not sponsoring immigration visas at this time.
