Position Summary:The Senior Planned Giving Officer is responsible for the promotion, cultivation, solicitation, and securing of various deferred life income gifts, such as annuities, remainder unitrusts, and lead trusts as well as bequests and other estate gifts in support of Lahey?s programs and people. Reporting to the Vice President for Philanthropy and working closely with the Director of Major Gifts, the Senior Officer raises major- and principal-level gifts from a portfolio of personally-assigned prospects; manages a team of Planned Giving Officers responsible for securing similar gifts, principally from face-to-face meetings; and designs and executes a comprehensive, integrated planned giving program, including but not limited to communicating the benefits of various planned gifts, both to donors and recipient organizations. The Senior Officer further ensures that the Planned Giving Program, in addition to securing gifts and bequest intentions in its own right, serves as an informational, advisory, and support source for all major gift and principal gift fundraisers part of Institutional Advancement. The Senior Officer is also responsible for the achievement of the program? s pledge and cash goals as well as its staff activity goals, as defined by the Vice President for Philanthropy. Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to: 1.This position works with the Vice President for Philanthropy to identify priorities, establish annual and longer- goals, and formulate a strategy and action plan for the program and for each Planned Giving Officer 2.Manages a team of well-focused, highly productive Planned Giving Officers in pursuit of gifts of at least $25,000 but more typically at the $100,000 and more level.3.Manages a personal portfolio of donors and planned gift prospects, primarily at the six- and seven-figure levels4.Works with Philanthropy Communications to develop and implement successful marketing strategies and to create collateral to encourage and attract legacy and other planned gifts.5.Meets regularly, both individually and collectively, with Planned Giving Officers to review prospect strategies and action plans and to ensure close cooperation and effective communications between officers, and between Planned Giving Officers and other Major Gift and Principal Gift Officers. 6.Recruits, trains, and retains exceptionally productive fundraisers in order to strengthen, sustain, and improve the program. Performs employee evaluations and develops performance improvement plans and issues corrective action plans as needed. 7.Oversees tracking and reporting systems to ensure that appropriate and timely actions are occurring and that consistent progress is being made toward achievement of goals. Provides a monthly report for Institutional Advancement?s senior leadership and all Philanthropy staff.8.Effectively represents Lahey to all external constituents, including but not limited to prospects and donors. Effectively represents Institutional Advancement to all Lahey senior administrators, physicians and surgeons, and staff.9.Works in a collegial, team-oriented manner with all colleagues 10.Serves as a member of the Gift Acceptance Committee.

Minimum QualificationsEducation: Bachelor Degree requiredLicensure, Certification & Registration: None RequiredExperience: Minimum of 5 years leadership experience in planned and legacy gifts with proven success. All candidates must have a balance of fundraising and management experience. Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:Ability to understand and represent Lahey Clinic and to listen carefully with retention. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Must exhibit a strong work ethic and be self-motivated. Energy, creativity, and collegiality are essential.
