MassMutual Head of MMFA Marketing Operations and Tools in Brookline, Massachusetts

This position is part of the MassMutual Financial Advisor (MMFA) group. The MMFA group is responsible for continuously evolving MassMutual’s financial advisor distribution channel. As a member of the MassMutual Financial Advisors (MMFA) Marketing leadership team, you will be building and leading a team/center of excellence (COE) focused on how we scale and track marketing programs through the use of integrated marketing campaigns driven by digital tools/platforms through self-service advisor capabilities.


  • This role will lead the MMFA marketing operations and digital tools COE to drive the go to market approach to deliver initiatives to the target customer through the advisor, with the commitment to understand how our customer/advisor will use these tools and what their needs are.

  • Understanding the types of tools necessary for advisors to deliver and drive the most efficient, integrated and effective tools and tactics will be crucial to success in this role. A main focus will be to determine the requirements for a more comprehensive advisor-led marketing/campaign automation system during 2019. This includes the evaluation, implementation, and management of marketing technology systems -- automation, attribution, and other solutions used by the MMFA marketing team to do their jobs effectively such as integration with CRM tools, enterprise lead programs and overall lead tracking systems across the top of the MMFA Marketing funnel.

  • This leader must provide concise measurement, analytics and reporting of systems to users and actively look for areas of continuous improvement to drive efficiency.

  • This role will also be responsible for owning best practices around go to market strategies for advisors and MM agencies. They will apply that knowledge in the design of enterprise, firm-driven and advisor-driven go to market strategies. Their team will be responsible for packaging campaigns and determining the optimal marketing channels to apply.

  • This leader will work closely with the broader Enterprise Leads team, MMIT architecture, MMFA Advisor Operations, Data Engineering and the overall MMFA Marketing Leadership team to ensure the MMFA Marketing digital infrastructure in fully integrated into the broader MM technology enterprise design.


  • 10+ Years of experience in marketing automation technology and tools

  • Strong track record of executing marketing campaigns and developing analysis and reporting

  • Significant experience working with IT architecture teams to define marketing data analytics strategies as they apply to tracking lead attribution

  • Experience working with all marketing media channels, including direct mail, email, social, media buys, seminars, etc.

  • Understanding of current marketing automation tools/platforms landscape, including best practices and vendors pros/cons

  • Ability to lead cross functional team and provide clear and concise process that drives engagement and efficiency of offerings

  • Strategic thought leader that has been effective partnering across teams

  • Proven track record in workflow process and development

  • Proven success juggling multiple priorities through strong project management skills, leadership and collaboration across the enterprise with other senior leaders

  • Demonstrated ability to challenge status quo and current technology solutions in order to improve efficiency and effectiveness of users

  • Strong business acumen and a true interest in and curiosity about the workings of the business

  • Demonstrated ability to impact and influence senior leaders/peers

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong Team Leader

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required, Master’s Degree Preferred

  • Based in Boston, MA or Springfield, MA with occasional WFH ability

  • Microsoft office, BOX cloud, technology solutions (CRM/Marketing Automation a plus)

  • Collaborative office conditions

  • Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship
