Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Account Manager/Writer in Brookline, Massachusetts

Reports to Assistant Director, Philanthropy Marketing & Communications. The Account Manager/Writer, Philanthropy Marketing & Communications will serve as account/project management lead for a portfolio of Jimmy Fund programs/events. Develop marketing and advertising strategies, concepts, deliverables, and plans to help the Division of Philanthropy meet and exceed its revenue and participation goals through fundraising events and programs. Research, write, and edit a variety of documents to support the needs of the Division of Philanthropy in raising more than $400 million annually. This individual will work with a variety of individuals throughout the Institute, including prospect managers, Philanthropy contacts, and leaders.

The onboarding of this role will include a comprehensive training process which includes completion of online modules, shadowing colleagues, as well as hands-on learning experiences throughout the first calendar year in the role.

This position is considered remote, 0-1 days onsite at 10 Brookline Place, Brookline, MA each week. DFCI guidelines state that employees must reside in New England: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, or Vermont.

  • Develop marketing strategies and plans that help teams reach target audiences, meet and exceed their revenue/participation goals, and attract new donors.

  • Serve as the main Philanthropy Marketing & Communications account contact for leaders of assigned Jimmy Fund programs and events. Partner to carry out the strategic planning and analysis, concepting, and copywriting; and oversee creative execution and production for all marketing collateral from concept through completion.

  • Collaborate as a strategic partner with assigned teams to ensure marketing tactics meet goals.

  • Collaborate with Philanthropy Communications (graphic design, photography, production) and Digital Marketing (digital, website, email, and social media) colleagues to develop effective creative strategies and execute marketing projects on time and on budget.

  • Produce in-depth wrap-up reports, including detailed analysis that drives marketing recommendations for subsequent fiscal year.

  • Research, write, and edit a variety of documents to support the needs of the Division of Philanthropy. Specific writing and marketing assignments include, but are not limited to:

  • Articles for donor newsletters and publications that include Impact and other print and online/email newsletters (adhering to AP style)

  • Marketing collateral (brochures, flyers, banners, postcards, fact sheets, etc.), advertising copy (print, broadcast, radio, online, out-of-home, social media), website copy, email blasts, e-newsletters, etc.

  • Event copy, including invitations, program books, and other marketing needs.

  • Summaries of scientific research for lay donor and staff audiences.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

N/A

Bachelor's degree in English, marketing, or related field required. Three to five years of copywriting and marketing experience in an agency, non-profit, or related industry required; experience in a Philanthropy setting preferred, particularly marketing for fundraising events or principal and major gifts experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Also required are: Strong writing abilities, strong project management experience, excellent organizational skills, proficiency in interpersonal business communications, writing strategic marketing and advertising plans, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while providing quality service to multiple teams.
