Job Summary

The VP of Patient Advocacy and Customer Engagement will lead Rhythm’s market development strategy around Rare Genetic Diseases of Obesity (RGDO), which includes leading the efforts around disease education and testing initiatives as well as the patient advocacy strategy ensuring the voice of the patient is reflected into key company decisions to support our efforts.

In this highly visible position, the candidate will report into the Executive VP of the North America Region and will provide market development and customer engagement oversight in partnership with sales and marketing, area development and field medical.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead the development and execution of Rhythm’s RGDO HCP and patient strategy including implementation of methodologies for customer engagement

  • Oversee patient advocacy efforts, ensuring that partnerships are based on shared goals to improve patient outcomes and experiences. Ensure the integration of the patient voice across business activities.

  • Identify and foster relationships with key RGDO thought leaders to collaborate with on Rhythm initiatives.

  • Foster strong partnerships across the North America Region including Field Medical, Market Access, Sales and Marketing, and Patient and Customer Services, and cross functionally with Global Medical Affairs, Clinical Operations and Translational Research and Development (TRAD).

  • Collaborate with Area Development Managers (ADM), Medical Science Liaison (MSL), and Patient and Customer Services organization to deploy material and train on strategy, messaging, and field tactics

  • Develop and monitor budgets to support efforts and ensure spend is reflective of approved budget.

  • Oversee partnership with Business Operations team to develop dashboards, monitor trends and identify risks to potential sources of future growth.

  • Identify and enable best practices for identifying opportunities to build data driven programs that support patients and their caregivers in navigating their conditions, increasing disease awareness with the RGDO community.

    Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, MBA preferred

  • Strong track record of success across sales and marketing and patient advocacy in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical or medical device industries

  • 15+ years relevant experience brand engagement and patient advocacy experience

  • Experienced manager of professionals and functional teams

  • Rare disease launch experience preferred

  • Able to flex, evolve and adapt to change in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, keeping the patient at the center of key decisions

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, demonstrated ability to think strategically

  • Demonstrated success working collaboratively in a complex matrix environment and building sustainable and collaborative relationships with internal and external customers

  • Ability to collaborate and influence across internal and external stakeholders

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to travel up to 20%

    This role is based in our Corporate office in Boson, Massachusetts. Candidates applying must be willing and able to be in the Boston office once it is safe to do so, per State and Federal COVID-19 guidelines.

    This role will involve future travel, TBD post availability of COVID-19 vaccine
