TrueSense Marketing Vice President of Strategic Planning in Boston, Massachusetts

The Vice President, Strategic Planning provides data-driven, insights-based advice to our nonprofit clients to drive forward the success of their multichannel fundraising programs. This role is hands-on with the data and leverages the data to deliver analysis, planning, monitoring and investment recommendations across a small portfolio of agency nonprofit clients. In this role, the successful candidate will inform media investment, creative testing, audience targeting, and channel mix to drive value in pursuit of the clients? fundraising strategic goals.

Vice President, Strategic Planning is additionally responsible for ongoing collaborative work with our digital and traditional media, data and advanced analytics, creative studio, and account management teams.

In this role you will demonstrate an expertise and level of comfort deriving actionable insights from donor portfolio, channel-based, audience-based, and value-based data sets. Familiarity with nonprofit industry traditional six-lifecycle donor evaluation frameworks is a plus.

Essential Functions:

  • Analyzes donor file dynamics to generate insights and recommendations that will help guide clients in pursuit of achieving their growth goals.

  • Prepares and works with TSM?s proprietary tools: Donor Health Index, long-term value, donor migration, Pipeline DHI, as well as our suite of measurement solutions for assessing the effectiveness of touchpoints across a variety of channels.

  • Ability to use their understanding of various channel capabilities, investment in those media, and expected returns to create forecast scenarios that reflect the long-term impact of current year (Pro Forma) as well as the impact these scenarios will have on the future-state.

  • Analyze campaign performance and campaign tests to generate insights and recommendations that will help clients? improve fundraising results. This includes direct mail, email, social, search, DRTV, and other non-traditional media formats.

  • Works with the Creative Director to align strategic goals with creative interpretation/execution.

  • Ensures the accuracy of work product and documents logic/assumptions.

  • Develops the strategic narrative that helps clients understand where they?ve been, what?s happening currently, where they can go and how.

  • Completes ad hoc projects to dig deeper into the data to address pressing performance inquiries.

  • Plays a leadership role in internal meetings as well as client meetings.

  • Shapes the dialogue around strategic goals and influences internal and external stakeholders.

Position Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Job Specific Programs as Applicable: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Adobe Writer/Reader, Tableau, Google Analytics. Having a working knowledge of database structure, a general understanding of predictive modeling and Photoshop a plus.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor?s degree required in Mathematics, Marketing, Social Science or a related field, Master?s degree preferred.

  • 10+ years of experience in a role with a heavy data analysis focus in direct-response marketing and or financial planning.

  • Prior experience in an agency or consulting firm preferred.

  • Demonstrates an ability to be a data storyteller ? taking complex quantitative concepts and spinning them into compelling marketing strategies
