About the role

Reporting directly to the SVP & General Manager of Service Provider & Edge BU (SEBU), we’re looking for a dynamic leader as VP of Product Marketing & Partnerships, who will have responsibility for creating preference for the VMware Edge portfolio of enterprise products (including SASE/SD-WAN, Edge Compute Stack, and future offers) across all routes-to-market.

Working closely with product management, sales, business operations, global marketing and partnership organizations, the successful individual will manage both GTM and product marketing strategy and execution.

The opportunity requires an individual with a unique blend of leadership, marketing, product, business, operational, analytical, partnering and influencing skills who can manage an existing, established and transforming product portfolio, as well as build and evangelize the vision and voice for the future for VMware Multi-Cloud Edge.

In this role the successful candidate will:

  • Own the creation and execution of the overall marketing strategy, preference creation, and go-to-market plan for the VMware Edge portfolio of products (SASE/SD-WAN, Edge Compute Stack, and future offers) for the enterprise customers across all routes to market.

  • Understand our customers, their buying journey and our competition to amplify our voice, retain leadership in category. Enable our sales organization to excel in their pursuits.

  • Develop and refine messaging, positioning, product content and apply it for AR/PR, awareness and thought leadership, with relevance to end user personas

  • Demand generation and campaign design across all our routes to market, leveraging a mix of digital campaigns, account-based marketing, field marketing/events (both in person and virtual), social media and applying the right investment for each form in a data-driven fashion.

  • Focus demand-generation efforts for both lands, expand and cross-sell opportunities to net new customers and existing customer install-base

  • Develop offers for all routes-to-market that meet the business objectives of POC’s and closed business.

  • Drive sales and partner enablement programmatically for all offers and quantify efficacy

  • Develop and grow strategic partnerships with ecosystem partners and enable a select number as a route-to-market

  • Build leverage across the various RTM functions and closely partner with product management, sales, business operations, global marketing and partner organization

  • Leverage market intelligence and marketing analytics to successfully drive and build leverage in our RTM

  • Identify roadblocks (and remove them) for existing routes to market together with responsibility and influence for select RTM operations and governance

  • Lead with EPIC2 ( values, develop a high-performing, highly collaborative team

Job Requirements

  • You have 15 – 20 years of software industry marketing experience with an ideal mix of technical (product management, technical marketing or engineering) and business (consulting, product marketing) background.

  • You have a proven track record of marketing success from within a networking, security, cloud software/service, SaaS, or IaaS company is strongly preferred.

  • You have strong experience managing teams of 25+ marketers.

  • Experience in both large and small start-up companies required

  • Excellent listening, oral and written communication/presentation skills with strong ability to influence people at all levels and in various functions

  • Strong awareness of technology trends, marketing systems and best-practices and their potential influence on VMware’s business

  • Strong teaming skills and experience to bring together diverse views

  • Innate interest in constantly learning new things and ways of working

  • Creates an inclusive, collaborative and fun way of sharing experience and learnings

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related technical degree or experience. MBA preferred.

This job may require the candidate to comply with travel restrictions and/or work from a facility that requires full vaccination prior to entry.
