The UX Strategist role on our team is a User Experience leader who takes a consumer-centric approach to helping VMware make strategy decisions, and acts as a change agent to help us collaboratively shape an iconic organization’s most critical design efforts.

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

Develop deep relationships with your design colleagues and critical stakeholders within the first 30 days. Understand our products and processes with the first 60 days. Bring a human-centered practice to life by guiding product teams, stakeholders, designers, and researchers to focus customers, partners and colleagues in delivering measured outcomes across a set products in the first 180 days.

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

  • Build bridges, collaborate and influence design, engineering, and product management stakeholders and technical leaders, across VMware

  • Analyze needs and challenges

  • Participate in research activities during the planning, strategic development, and early design of solutions

  • Identify improvement opportunities including, but not limited to, usability and accessibility problems

  • Drive adoption of an experience-centered methodologies and measures

  • Ensure we go into design phases with researched user insights that provide a crystal-clear understanding of our users’ needs and how designers should address them

  • Promote a culture of rapid iteration based on insights gleaned from customer research and data analytics

  • Communicate effectively with all levels of an organization
