Boston Globe Media Partners Temporary Assistant Arts Editor (remote) in Boston, Massachusetts
While we search for a permanent hire, The Boston Globe is seeking a creative, energetic editor with deep knowledge of visual arts and/or classical music to guide critics and a reporter in those fields and edit their work. The job can be performed remotely or on site for a minimum of a month, and possibly longer . Start date: early August. Knowledge of Boston's arts scene a plus. Please provide links to three arts reviews and/or arts features you have edited in your cover letter.
Following Boston’s arts scene, seeking out scoops and fresh story ideas
Shaping, polishing, and querying as needed to produce copy that sparkles
Assigning photos and working with the art department on design and illustration concepts
Writing headlines for print and digital that capture the widest readership possible
At least three years of post-college arts editing experience at a professionally produced publication
The editing chops to guide, shape, and polish stories to meet Globe standards
A sense for the stories and angles that will grab readers' attention and drive engagement
Bachelor’s degree or higher
A willingness to adapt and be audience focused, with a curious mindset and a commitment to creating an inclusive work environment
