Commercial Banking provides financial solutions to businesses with annual sales generally in excess of $5 million. Our business lines are Wells Fargo Commercial Capital, Middle Market Banking, and Treasury Management & Payment Solutions.

Wells Fargo’s Specialized Industries Technology Banking Group is seeking an experienced Mid-Corp Relationship Manager to expand our Technology banking team. This is a senior level relationship position focused on generating new business relationships and managing an existing portfolio of middle market and mid-corporate clients. The Relationship Manager will drive revenue generation across Wells Fargo’s platform, by proactively identifying new credit opportunities, handling all aspects of originating, structuring, and executing transactions, and coordinating with investment banking, debt capital markets, and equity capital markets. The ideal candidate will have existing relationships with both technology companies and venture capital firm. This role may provide coaching/mentoring in the development of more junior level relationship managers.

They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • 9+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: commercial banking relationship management, corporate banking relationship management, equity or venture capital investing

Desired Qualifications

  • Account relationship management experience

  • Experience originating, structuring, and executing bank lending transactions, other credit related products, for critical or complex clients

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of risk management and complex credit executions related to acquisition financing and bridge underwriting

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of negotiating: interest rates, price, terms, and collateral requirements

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of commercial or specialty group: lending, loan servicing, products, and credit practices

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of debt and equity capital markets

  • Strong credit analysis skills

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills

Other Desired Qualifications

• Minimum of ten years of account relationship, direct lending, and/or credit support experience

• Strong credit analysis skills, with a preference for formal credit training

• Demonstrated track record growing a portfolio, while appropriately balancing risk management

• Proven and effective relationship management skills that lead to desired client outcomes

• Proactive, persistent, organized, and results oriented

• Strategic thinker who challenges norms and brings thoughtful recommendations

• Extensive relationships with technology companies, non-bank lenders, venture capital and growth equity firms

• Sets and manages to high, calling standards

• Develops trusted client relationships at the operational, c-suite, and board of director levels

• Partners effectively across various lines of businesses, particularly with investment banking and capital markets

Job Expectations

  • Registration for FINRA Series 63 and 79 must be completed within a 90 or 180-day time period contingent upon number of license(s) needed if not immediately available to transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted. This will be communicated at time of offer acceptance.

  • For specific FINRA qualification exams obtained after 9/30/2018, the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam co-requisite may also be required FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted. This will be communicated at time of offer acceptance

  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time
