Job Description

Creates, develops, plans, writes and edits operational, instructional, maintenance, test or user manuals for paper, multimedia or web-based publications. Contributes to the timely design, production and delivery/completion of product documentation and document sets.

As a member of the technical writing division, you will write, review and produce single books or individual chapters, appendices, etc. of product user documentation and/or courseware. Obtain data and information from the appropriate source e.g. technical staff and exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.

Duties and tasks are standard with some variation; displays understanding of roles, processes and procedures. Performs moderately complex problem solving with assistance and guidance in understanding and applying company policies and processes. BS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 1 year of software engineering or related experience.

We have an immediate opening for a Technical Writer in the Oracle Construction and Engineering Global Business Unit. As a member of our Documentation team, you will create, edit, and update product information for delivery in multiple formats to application administrators and end users. You will primarily use Author-it to produce help systems, user guides, and integration documentation for enterprise-class project-management applications. You will work closely with Programming, Design, Strategy, and Quality Assurance teams, and also have the opportunity to interact with Product Support. You will work remotely from any location within the United States.

Required skills and experience include:

Bachelors Degree in English, Technical Communications, or related field.

3 to 5 years experience developing software documentation, including help systems, user guides, and integration documents.

Solid writing and research skills.

A high technical aptitude, a positive attitude, obsessive attention to detail, and a strong desire to learn and succeed.

Familiarity with complex enterprise-class web applications.

Proficiency with standard Microsoft applications.

Must work well as a member of a documentation team.

Additional skills that would contribute to an ideal candidate include familiarity with:


Agile development processes.

Topic-based authoring concepts.

Project management tools and concepts.

The ideal candidate is flexible, self-motivated, and detail-oriented, and has the interpersonal skills to contribute to a high performance team.

Writing samples required during the interview process.
