Facebook Technical Artist, Rigging/Pipeline - Facebook Reality Labs in Boston, Massachusetts

Summary:

We're looking for an experienced Technical Artist to join our Avatars team to work closely with designers, engineers, and other technical artists, to bring VR/AR characters to life on all Facebook apps and platforms, to be used by billions of users around the globe.

Required Skills:

  1. Create tools to streamline the creation of digital avatars

  2. Help create well-architected and scalable rigging systems

  3. Contribute to and help maintain a wide array of existing workflows and tools

  4. Partner closely with art and engineering teams to define and develop content in modern real-time environments

  5. Design, manage and maintain the pipeline from artists and designers through to deployment

  6. Quickly solve issues with your cross-functional leads

  7. Ability to collaborate and iterate based on the team's needs

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 5+ years of experience rigging characters in Maya

  2. Experience creating advanced procedural rigging systems

  3. 3+ years experience with Maya Python/PyMEL, C++ API, PySide/PyQt

  4. 3+ years of experience in game development or film as a Technical Artist

  5. Experience collaborating on multi-disciplinary teams

  6. Experience communicating across team members including engineers and artists

  7. Experience in facial rigging and morph targets

  8. Experience with real time asset implementation and optimization techniques

  9. Experience working with Unity or Unreal

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Extensive content development experience, including shipped AAA games

  2. Virtual reality experience

  3. Knowledge of emerging technologies

  4. Shader programming experience

  5. Experience with face tracking from video or similar technologies
