Boston University STUDENT AFFAIRS COORDINATOR, School of Medicine, Student Affairs in BOSTON, Massachusetts
The Student Affairs Coordinator provides dedicated support to School of Medicine student organizations; partners with the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs to develop trainings, processes and reports relevant to student organizations; assists the Director of Student Affairs with event planning; and serves as a member of a staff with the shared responsibility of addressing the operative needs of the Student Affairs Office. Responsibilities include: overseeing and updating all resources for student organizations (e.g. student organization webpages, event planning checklists, required forms and reports); creating and disseminating the Weekly Student Digest newsletter; assisting student orgs on purchasing via POs; reviewing and approving all room requests; hosting leadership series to help students develop leadership & communication skills and best practices and how to succeed as a student organization. This role will also will liaise with BUs Schools of Dental Medicine and Public Health as well as Graduate Medical Sciences to ensure coordination of student events and activities across the medical campus. The Student Affairs Coordinator plans the annual Student Activities Fair, Career Expo, and Awards Ceremony, and supports the planning and execution of milestone events like orientations, Commencement, Match Day, and the White Coat Ceremony. Other duties include hiring student tutors and processing the weekly student payroll; reviewing and processing student reimbursements; staffing school committees such as the Appropriate Treatment in Medicine committee; creating and maintaining the student list serves. In conjunction with other Student Affairs staff, this coordinator will respond to student needs, update the website; answer phones; schedule meetings; direct callers; order supplies as needed; create purchase orders and pay invoices; take messages; sign for deliveries; and refer guests. Some night and weekend work required. Cover letter required for consideration.
Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of related experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Strong communication, analytical, and multitasking abilities
Prior WordPress experience desirable
The ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
High degree of professionalism and the ability to interact with diplomacy and confidentiality with many individuals at all level
