Cengage Learning Strategy Manager, Higher Ed in Boston, Massachusetts

What will you focus on?

  • Drive key strategic and operational initiatives and support the US Higher Ed functions in the development of their short term and long-term objectives

  • Ensure coordination of strategic and operational initiatives between functions

  • Lead initiatives with cross-functional team members to deliver against specific business objectives

  • Work with key subject matter professionals and internal organizations to analyze current industry trends, expansion opportunities, and competitive threats. Make recommendations and adjust strategy in response to market trends

  • Identify and unlock sources of efficiency, alignment, simplicity and scale for Higher Ed organization

  • Work collaboratively with the US Higher Ed Leadership Team and Functional Teams

  • Analyze current business processes, recommend improvements, and lead change

Skills You Will Need Here:

  • BA/BS with high validated achievement – MBA a plus

  • Minimum of 3 years previous consulting and/or strategy experience at a top tier consulting firm or equivalent experience at a relevant firm e.g., technology, media, or education

  • Overall 5-6 years of professional experience

  • Track record of achievement in delivering large, complex business transformation projects and influencing business outcomes

  • Proven ability to frame, visualize and contextualize complex and ambiguous problems

  • Ability to drive a high-impact agenda with a diverse set of executives/ business partners, and the right change in a fluid and dynamic environment

  • Ability to challenge ideas and norms with thoughtful arguments; is a thought leader who is creative and confident in identifying solutions and persuading others to a course of action

  • Highly developed analytical skills and data savvy; strong quantitative & problem-solving toolkit; comfortable using varying sources of data, qualitative inputs and assumptions to quickly test and prioritize hypotheses

  • Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence; consistent record as a good team player with an understanding of how to deliver both personal and team goals

  • Capacity to work independently or as part of a team with a “roll up your sleeves” approach

  • Excellent written, oral, presentation, and facilitation skills

This position is full-time and can be based in Boston, MA, New York City, or other locations for the right candidate.
