Verndale Strategy Director in Boston, Massachusetts

About the Strategy Director Position

Verndale is seeking a dynamic, digital-first Strategy Director to join its team. The right-fit candidate will serve in a matrix role – as both a partner to the Group Account Director and team leadership within a practice group, and as part of the Strategy Team within the Digital Experience Department.

As a Strategy Director you will own the alignment of our cross-functional solutions with the business goals of our clients, help unlock organic growth opportunities, develop progressive multi-year roadmaps that are the foundation of strategic account planning, and play an active role in sales, reporting, and research. You are a player-coach.

The Strategy Director works closely and collaboratively with Experience Design, Digital Marketing, Technology and Account Management within the practice team, and is a client-facing role. Success in this position is dependent on developing vertical/industry knowledge, a solid understanding of the marketing technology ecosystem, relationship management, a mix of blue sky thinking and tactical execution, and the engagement processes and frameworks to operate within.

Responsibilities

  • Enable the account team to meet and exceed revenue targets by:

  • Unlocking growth opportunities within the existing client base through strategic business planning and problem solving – with a particular focus on strategy, design, user experience, and digital marketing services.

  • Playing a leadership role in new business development, solutioning, proposal creation, and pitching.

  • Provide end-to-end strategic leadership to both clients and the delivery team to ensure every engagement is aligned to critical business goals and delivers measurable impact.

  • Stay ahead of market, customer experience, and technology trends to help shape product and solution development and be a trusted partner to clients to help them plan for and manage strategic multi-year roadmaps.

  • Own development and creation of strategic deliverables for all team engagements, including multiple tasks and initiatives within the Discovery phase (i.e., stakeholder interviews, market research), roadmaps, strategic reviews, as well as support strategic account planning in partnership with practice team leadership.

  • Be a central voice in practice team leadership, representing Verndale's cross-functional Digital Experience Department which includes user experience and visual designers, and digital marketing.

  • Develop expertise in one or more vertical markets that enable smarter and more targeted go-to-market and improves new business win-rate. Be an active thought leader, developing content and speaking at events to raise the profile of Verndale within these target markets.

    Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in digital-first strategy

  • Experience aligning business goals and challenges with digital experiences, digital marketing and user experience strategies and tactics

  • Ability to effectively handle multiple projects and timelines

  • Self-starter who can lead strategic conversations with clients and internal colleagues

  • Experience creating and presenting long-range strategic roadmaps that effectively demonstrate a digital strategy vision

  • Proven ability to analyze research and make data-driven recommendations

  • Understanding of leading CMS systems (i.e., Sitecore, Optimizely) and other complementary technologies

  • Knowledge of UX research methodologies, including heuristics, user journeys, and persona development.

  • Experience in a client-service or consultative role which might include management consulting, creative services, design

  • Outstanding verbal communication skills.

  • Strong documentation skills required, including Word, PowerPoint, Visio.

  • Understanding of best practices in web and mobile design, as well as W3C and Section 508/WCAG 2.0 accessibility standards
