The Strategic Account Manager drives sales and provides customer support for Gale In Context for Educators in the Midwest territory through direct customer contact.

What You’ll Do:

Create and implement sales strategies and tactics for the territory as well as plan and attend customer meetings, prioritize opportunities and efficiently follow through all stages of the sales cycle to conclusion.

Be responsible for maximizing sales through identifying customers’ needs, matching Gale products to those needs, preparing and delivering sales presentations, writing proposals and closing sales.

Acquire and strengthen product and market knowledge for the K12 team

Engage in other business related activities necessary to sell products and services to customers (i.e. e-mail campaigns, entertaining customers, etc.)

Forecast territory projected sales accurately, as well as ensure that activity is updated in CRM systems on a regular basis

Work closely with the rest of the sales team and with other departments such as marketing, customer services, customer care, sales support and product development by offering market feedback and intelligence

Flexibility to travel is essential as once pandemic restrictions are lifted, this role will require extensive travel throughout the territory, and some travel outside the territory for conferences.

Skills You’ll Need:


  • Bachelor’s degree with preferred major in Business or other area related to publishing mission.

  • Successful selling experience required. Publishing experience a plus.

  • Use of digital curriculum in the K12 market. Educational verbiage and understanding of digital curriculum implementations.

  • PC proficiency required. Proficient in use of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Creative ability to create value-driven presentations and the software to execute.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills which include teamwork and networking skills. Excellent presentation skills.

  • Must be self-disciplined, self-motivated, and able to work independently, dealing with customers and in a sales/services relationship on a daily basis. Good command of the English language required.


  • Field sales experience, with a consistent track record of sales goal achievement

  • Strong knowledge of K12 education and digital information delivery
