SUMMARY OF THE ROLE

The Product Strategy Manager, Platform, is responsible for directing and prioritizing the development and implementation of the company's market-leading adaptive learning and study planning platform for medical students. He or she will be a key member of the Product Strategy team, contributing to the team's overall strategic vision and particularly contributing knowledge of HLRP's roadmap and maintaining close ties to technology, Publishing/editorial, and other development team members, in support of both the individual and institutional sales and implementation.

Identifying and working with interdepartmental, cross-functional stakeholders, the PSM will function as the business owner of assigned platform development initiatives, setting priorities and directing resources based on the commercial concerns and strategic objectives of the company. The PSM will coordinate all the activities required for successful planning, development, deployment, and communication of new platform-dependent features and products.

The PSM will support product development efforts across multiple undertakings, including the maintenance, upgrade and transformation of the platform and applications.

This position reports to our Boston MA or New York City office locations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Working with key internal and external stakeholders to develop and deploy the vision and business case for key process, platform and product enhancements. This activity includes:

  • Discovering and validating market needs (both existing and future customers)

  • Ensuring that any platform product investment meets key business objectives of profitability and/or strategic objectives

  • Understanding and communicating the competitive landscape, including how our platform is positioned and functions vis-à-vis key competitive products.

  • Defining and prioritizing features and functionality and providing the voice of the customer in reviewing customer requests for bug fixes and enhancements.

  • Development and presentation of business case to stakeholders to obtain input and support from executives and key stakeholders

  • Partnering closely with internal technology partners to support the client experience and need of the planning and advisory offering.

  • Partnering with publishing /editorial teams and define the meet the requirements of end users and potential society partners and to assist in communicating those achievements to all stakeholders.

  • Working with sales & marketing to communicate developments to best effect

Education: Bachelor Degree

Experience:

  • Min 5 years of experience in digital technology development preferably in the publishing or information services industry.

  • Knowledge of the academic/scholarly markets for online information products and services

  • Some experience with Agile methodologies or equivalent

  • Experience in medical education/residency publishing preferred

Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:

  • Above average verbal and written communication skills; good persuasive abilities.

  • Good presentation skills, ability to interact with colleagues at all levels and customers/clients.

  • Experience with web-based digital periodical delivery

  • Advanced certifications in software development a plus

Travel requirements: Primarily domestic with some international travel possible

Physical Demands: Normal office environment
