VMware Sr Product Manager, DevSecOps UI/UX - Opportunity for Working Remotely in Boston, Massachusetts

VMware is looking for a Sr. Product Manager to join Tanzu and the Modern Applications Platform Business Unit (MAPBU) product team with a focus on the DevSecOps experience. VMware customers are increasingly deploying containers as the foundation of their application modernization efforts. The MAPBU team delivers best-in-class enterprise cloud-native solutions – supporting container frameworks such as Kubernetes.

The Tanzu team is chartered with providing application teams with a “native” Kubernetes experience that complements our existing Tanzu App Service (TAS) offering. They are a fast-paced, startup-like team where you will have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to the product roadmap while developing skills in cutting-edge technologies. You will be part of an action-oriented team that has a culture of open communication, empowerment, innovation, teamwork, and customer success. We are looking for someone with a strong connection to developers and their everyday challenges, a strong technical background and the drive and desire to define and evangelize the set of features and solutions that will support Application Teams in their journey to Kubernetes.

Given the current state of the program, we are looking for Product Managers that thrive and excel in the early phases of definition of a product, are not scared of large, complex problems, are truly passionate about users (developers & application teams), knowledgeable about the Kubernetes ecosystem and emerging technologies like serverless and functions-patterns (or willing to learn!) and work well in fast-moving, quick-adjusting and collaborative environments.

Job Role and Responsibilities:

  • As a Sr. Product Manager, you are a member of the Product team and will be contributing to product definition, roadmap, and direction of Tanzu features and open source tools. You will work cross-functionally with user experience, engineering and open source communities to create an innovative solution that builds on top of a healthy ecosystem of internal and OSS tools.

  • You will be contributing to customer and market research that the team will use to define the strategy for your area of responsibility and present that strategy to internal stakeholders and customers. This may include defining product / market fit and market sizing.

  • Producing a clear MVP definition and roadmap for your area of responsibility and working collaboratively with design and engineering to execute on it through proper prioritization.

  • You will work to bring the customer and their needs closer to the development team through research, customer engagements and involving customers in the incremental progress of the development team.

  • Partnering with users, customers, and account teams to facilitate successful customer proof of concept deployments.

  • You will present technical presentations to customers, partners, and the field for your area of expertise and responsibility, and also gather feedback to influence product and solution offerings.

Required Skills:

  • Able to breakdown large problems into smaller and simpler solutions

  • Obsess with customers, users and their needs

  • Passionate technologists, ready to evangelize within and outside of VMware, not scared of going deep and broad and straddle OSS and commercial worlds

  • Positive attitude and strong team players (not a 0-sum game!)

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • 4+ years of experience as a product manager, technical product marketing, technical marketing, systems engineer or experience working in a customer environment as an architect or senior practitioner.

  • Experience working with and understanding the needs of enterprise developers, application and platform teams.

  • Experience understanding shifting application patterns (VMs to containers to functions)

  • Good technical skills and comfortable in front of internal solutions architects, customers, and partners.

  • Understanding of agile software development methodologies and tools.

  • Strong propensity to drive for results as part of a high performing team.

  • Experience working with Kubernetes and its ecosystem, Serverless related solutions a plus.

  • Previous experience as a developer a plus.
