VMware Sr. Product Manager, Developer Services in Boston, Massachusetts

The VMware Ecosystem Engineering Product Management team is seeking a highly motivated Product Manager who is interested in building a best-in-class portfolio of developer services and world-class developer experience. As part of the VMware Engineering Services (VES) organization, we are responsible for defining and building the infrastructure and services necessary to drive 3rd party developer engagement across VMware’s broad product line and diverse developer personas. We are a data-driven agile team where the team members influence the product roadmap with their creative ideas. We work daily with product managers, architects, developer relations and developer experience professionals. We are looking for someone who takes ownership and enjoys collaborating with other product managers, developers, and UX professionals to build a central developer relations portal containing common services that will be consumed by developer outreach stakeholders at VMware.

This is a highly visible role, and you will work closely with various teams across VMware involved in 3rd party developer initiatives. You will have a tremendous opportunity to solve complex problems at scale, influence Business and Product development teams, and explore new innovative revenue streams for VMware.

Job Role and Responsibilities

  • Develop the vision, strategy, and roadmap for a unified developer portal and developer experience for VMware

  • Gather and prioritize product requirements from internal stakeholders and external developers

  • Work closely with engineers, DX, UX, DevRel, and Communities teams across the company

  • Manage communications and expectations with internal stakeholders

  • Define key success metrics for developer products & services

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of work experience in product management with at least 3 years’ experience with developer products

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MS/MBA preferred or equivalent experience

  • Passion for and experience shipping tools for developers. For example, you’ve shipped CLIs, client libraries, APIs, and/or IDE extensions

  • Knowledge of modern app development tools and technologies such as Containers, Kubernetes, Virtualization

  • Knowledge of the trends within enterprise IT such as Multi-cloud, Digital transformation, DevOps, and Open-Source development

  • Strong knowledge of SEO best practices

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a dynamic environment using a data-driven and analytical approach

  • Experience delivering products in an agile/lean environment

  • Experience working with Engineering, Marketing, Legal, UX, and other cross-functional teams on cutting edge technologies.
