This role puts you in the middle of transforming how genetic information can be used to save lives and discover scientific breakthroughs.

The Senior Manager, Strategy & Business Development Analytics is responsible for the coordination of cross-functional due diligence efforts in the evaluation of strategic partnerships and inorganic investments that support our strategy in Next-Generation Sequencing. S/he is responsible for managing the disparate diligence workstreams, ensuring commitments and deadlines are met, reporting results and conclusions, and facilitating a smooth transition post deal close. For IVD development partnerships, s/he will play a critical role in scoping out the cost, resources, and time to develop an NGS-based in vitro diagnostic. S/he will also play an active role in our strategic planning process and in evaluating new strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of genomics and in vitro diagnostics, as well as a strong mix of cross-functional team leadership, strategic thinking, financial acumen, and excellent communication skills.

What will you do?

  • Manage opportunities funnel, tracking progress and next steps

  • Project manage the overall due diligence process for partnerships and transactions

  • Coordinate cross-functional evaluation and diligenceto assess opportunity potential, feasibility, and risk

  • Scope IVD development requirements for Thermo Fisher and partner, including cost, resources, and time

  • Develop detailed revenue and discounted cash flow models in collaboration with cross-functional team leads, Finance, and Corporate Development

  • Prepare presentations to senior management to drive consensus building

  • Facilitate smooth transition with Alliance Management post deal close

  • Support strategic planning and the evaluation of new strategic initiatives

How will you get here?

Education

  • ​B.S. in life science

  • MBA or M.S. preferred

  • PgMP or PMPa plus

Experience

  • 7-10 years of overall experience across the genomics, diagnostics, life sciences, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical industries

  • Experience in decision analytics, strategic planning, business development, corporate development, or corporate strategy

  • Management consulting experience a plus

  • Program or project management experience preferred

  • Demonstrated success with managing projects supporting in vitro diagnostics (IVD), or biopharmaceutical drug development preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of FDA, ISO, CLIA and CAP regulations

  • Strong influencing skills to drive discussions and decisions toward desired results without formal authority

  • Strong presentation skills to effectively summarize and present decision points and key considerations

  • Excellent relationship building skills internal and external, good conflict management skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; attention to detail

  • Financial acumen and analytical rigor; ability to simplify the complex to enable decision making

  • Track record of successfully working with a variety of stakeholders (internal and external) to resolve complex issues and create unique solutions

  • Creative, resourceful, gritty, willing to hustle – will never hesitate to roll up sleeves and pursue something hands-on, will persevere when others fall away

  • Comfort managing ambiguity, comfortable with fluid objectives and priorities

  • Ability to adjust for geographic and cultural differences
