How you will make an impact:

The Senior Manager of Sales Strategy will support Thermo Fisher Scientific's Healthcare Market Division's (HMD) strategy development efforts by facilitating the identification of growth drivers and challenges across the Division. The Senior Manager will work collaboratively with colleagues within the Commercial organization and/or within the businesses and functions, or as an individual contributor, to support, help implement, and track key strategic projects that have significant impact on the Division.

What you will do:

The Senior Manager, reporting to the Director, Sales Strategy & Planning, will provide strategic thought and project management on a broad range of topics affecting the Division, including leveraging data to drive growth of the business and cross-divisional initiatives that seek to leverage the scale and depth of Thermo Fisher Scientific. It is essential that this person is able to establish rapport, credibility, trust, and respect throughout the organization, be viewed as a team player, and can work effectively under pressure and with tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the planning and development of strategic projects relating to the growth initiatives of the HMD business unit, including but not limited to optimization of the sales coverage model, planning for market expansion, and creation of revenue generating growth drivers

  • Support strategy development across HMD by working collaboratively with other teams (finance, data science, marketing, etc.)

  • Support divisional strategic planning process including presentations as required by Division leadership

  • Provide project management support, and objective analysis and decision support on 'special projects' as necessary

  • Perform competitive and market analysis for key strategic projects and draw insights and implications for the Division. Present findings and recommendations as appropriate

  • Identify, define, and articulate industry, market, and emerging trends and how they may affect HMD's businesses

  • Evaluate white space opportunities for possible expansion

  • Act as liaison for relevant strategic initiatives, and help develop and track implementation plans to ensure the right level of focus and discipline

  • Work on special projects to evolve and enhance the HMD function and processes

How you will get here:

Education:

  • Bachelors degree required; Masters degree in business, life sciences, or related field preferred

Experience:

  • 6+ years of relevant professional experience, including broad-based experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy and market/financial analysis; at least 2 years experience at a top-tier management consulting firm (e.g. Bain, McKinsey, BCG)

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Excellent critical thinking, project management, analytical, communication, presentation skills

  • Not afraid to 'roll your sleeves up' and work with details as well as the big picture

  • High level of intellectual curiosity combined with a 'results-driven' mindset and high EQ

  • Highly self-motivated with ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and initiatives

  • Relevant life science industry experience preferred, but not required

Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria:

  • Bachelors degree required; Masters degree in business, life sciences, or related field preferred
