VMware Sr. Industry Marketing Manager, SLED - Opportunity for Working Remotely in Boston, Massachusetts

VMware is looking for an experienced SLED Industry Marketing Manager to join the Americas marketing team. The Sr. Industry Marketing Manager is responsible for the development and execution of the marketing plan that integrates all pipeline drivers across State & Local Government and Higher Education business to ensure sufficient pipe coverage and to help move accounts through our sales cycle faster and more effectively.

Reporting to the Director of Americas Government, Education and Healthcare Marketing, you'll join a group of highly collaborative marketers that drive the cross-functional orchestration and work across the organization. You’ll work closely with the sales team to understand SLED priorities, in addition to partnering with Demand Center, Franchise and Partner Marketing to create targeted marketing campaigns that deliver best-in-class experiences for our customers and prospects.


  • Develop a deep understanding of the business and build innovative, effective marketing plans that align to business objectives, position VMware as leader in SLED digital transformation and address pipeline gaps.

  • Act as primary marketing contact and trusted advisor with sales team, including regular participation in sales team calls, in-person meetings and planning sessions.

  • Prioritize, version and execute global scale programs including executive engagement, demand generation and contact acquisition ensuring target customers priorities are top of mind in all activities.

  • Actively collaborate with the solutions marketing, demand center, customer and partner marketing teams on SLED business needs as you leverage central resources.

  • Work with partners and partner team to develop and execute joint activities.

  • Own reporting and tracking of program performance results tied to quarterly and annual targets. Partner with sales operations to monitor pipeline performance to inform decision making.

  • Manage regional budgets, SFDC campaigns, and lead the process to meet operational targets and SLAs.


  • Minimum of 8-10+ years of enterprise marketing experience in high-tech/Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) environments; minimum of 5 years of State & Local government or SLED marketing experience required.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of leveraging modern marketing demand principles into to public sector accounts (BtoG) including: the integration of online and offline tactics in account based marketing (ABM), sales acceleration, and demand generation programs.

  • Knowledge of Cloud hyperscalers and SLED routes to market (distributors, resellers and systems integrators).

  • Data-driven mindset and the ability to deliver relevant insights that describe the campaign performance and the impact to revenue and pipeline.

  • Experience supporting account executives and sales leadership, as well as understanding of enterprise sales forecasting and selling process.

  • Ability to influence across functions, be a team player and thrive autonomously in a matrixed environment with distributed teams.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal & written).

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail and flawless execution..

  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment, adapt and actively seek candid feedback from relevant stakeholders.

  • Bachelors in Marketing, Business or equivalent
