The Senior Director of Strategy and Operations for ed2go works closely with the GM of ed2go and the ed2go leadership team. Together, you will define the strategic direction of the ed2go, lead deep-dive analysis on critical “needle-moving” topics, and ensure insight driven rigor is applied to the strategy of execution. There is a huge difference between a great strategy and a well-executed great strategy. This role is tasked with maximizing both together with a high performing operation team of functional expert. This is a small, nimble team with high visibility in the company and direct ownership and accountability of areas. The Senior Director of Strategy and Operations will report directly to the SVP, GM of Online Skills (who reports to the CEO), and will lead initiatives that drive to the Online Skills Objectives and Key Results.
What You'll Do Here:
Form a deep understanding of ed2go’s strategic goals and drive the definition and articulation of a growth strategy that can deliver 100% growth in 3-5 years.
Define, structure and execute operational and strategic initiatives by developing work plans, gathering and synthesizing relevant data, leading analyses, and developing actionable recommendations
Present findings to senior management and prepare documentation for the Cengage Executive Team
Collaboratively develop functional strategy development and highest impact implementation plans that all work together as one plan versus being a sum of disparate plans
Ensure high level of user drive insight is applied to functional decision making
Own the Objectives and Key Results (OKR) setting process for ed2go
Drive the financial, strategic, and commercial evaluation of corporate development opportunities
Function as team member in a variety of strategy and business development projects, including emerging business opportunities, acquisitions, joint ventures, etc.
Skills You Will Need Here:
BA/BS with high proven achievement – MBA a plus
Minimum of 5-7 years previous consulting and/or strategy experience at a top tier consulting firm or equivalent experience at a technology, media, or education firm
Demonstrated ability to conceive and execute quantitative analysis and deliver data-driven insights
Strong financial analysis and modeling skills
Demonstrated writing and verbal presentation skills enabling her/him to prepare and present information and recommendations to a diverse and often senior audience
Able to self-manage progress and deliverables with a high degree of accountability and personal urgency
Proven managing of both direct reports and virtual teams
Interest and / or previous experience in education, software, and/or publishing industries a plus
Travel expected (10-20%)
Comfort with and eagerness to tackle ambiguous problems
Highly collaborative and able to influence. Should embrace, support and practice a collaborative style which goes beyond relationship building. Will achieve results with and through others
